POC Synapsis XP Helmet
POC's Synapsis XP Helmet uses a semi-hard shell design to absorb large impacts from botched cliff drops and cartwheel crashes on big-mountain lines. POC made this helmet for skiers who won't even consider a binding with a DIN less than 12 and who tend to ride helicopters more often than ski lifts. The POC Synapsis XP Helmet's large hood-scoop style vents keep your head cool whether you rip a steep chute or session a terrain park.
Bottom Line: The biggest lines and the biggest drops call for the POC Synapsis XP Helmet.

It should, it fits pretty much every goggle I have tried with it, but some are more awkward. Best bet is to try and find a store and test it with your goggles.

I have a gigantic dome piece. 62cm. I tried the XL on in a store and feel like I need an XXL. However, nobody carries the damned things. Any idea on if you guys will have one and if so when perhaps?
Thanks.

hey Justin, these are questions asked to customers almost exclusivley, employees rarley see them...BUT, if POC even has a size xxl, they wont be getting any more snowsports helmets in untill next year. you can still jump onto live chat at the top of the page or shoot them an email in the help center, or "contact us" link at the bottom of page

Great but some durability issues

Overall, POC makes a great helmet. It fits well, and feels very, very secure. You can tell that a great deal of attention was paid to both the fill and shell. However, related parts did not get the same treatment. I have two gripes. After only 6 days of use - one in dry Colorado powder and five in very deep and somewhat wet conditions in BC - the stick'um that holds the visor in place wore out so that it kept falling in my face, and the plastic pieces that hold the ear piece assembly to the helmet snapped at the insertion point into the helmet. For $200, I would expect attention to every detail, including these. Still, this is a very solid helmet and I would stick with POC despite these issues, which are annoying but can be fixed with super glue.
Does the visor on the Synapsis XP retract, does any visor in
Does the visor on the Synapsis XP retract, does any visor in the POC line retract??

It doesn't retract... but it is removable. No helmet I know of retracts their visor. RETRACT? No, It pivots back so that you can put your goggles on your forehead

THis is the best helmet I've had. I just came back from a Heli boarding trip and the helmet is great, it is very light and fits well. The vents are very helpfull in keeping your skull cool. The visor is a good accesorie for the snow and sun. I would recomend POC for anynbody that doesn't want to compromise performance.
I too had two pressure points in this helmet trying on the XL

No. The only POC helmet offered with audio is the Receptor Bug:http://www.backcountry.com/store/POC0022/POC-Receptor-BU

Sweet Look but tricky fit

My awesome wife got this helmet for me after an offseason of research and debating. The helmet looks sweet, especially with the POC lobe googles but the fit is tricky. I have a 59.5 cm head circumference but the XL (59-60cm) had pressure points. I think this helmet is a better fit for oval or maybe roval shaped heads. If you have a full, round melon like mine you won't be happy with the discomfort.
I'll also note that this helmet has much less padding than some of the other brands. This probably helps with the venting but not with comfort.
Wish it fit!

It'd work fine for snowboarding. It's not your typical snowboard style but it'll do great.

Actually, you can... the visor is attached by 2 screws as well as a small piece of velcro. Ran sans visor all year last year.

Light and Cool

The helmet is extremely light and well-built. The vents can be turned on and off by flipping two small velcro patches inside the helmet. With the vents open, my head never overheated and with them closed the helmet was very warm. The visor is great in snow, helping keep your goggles clear. The only downside of the visor is that it restricts airflow to the goggles and cause some fogging when skiing slow. But who goes slow? Spped is your friend.

Just the chin strap, the size of the helmet is true to size, so make sure you measure your head well or try it on in a store and order it online. I highly recommend POC, it is by far the most solid thing I've had my head in and wouldn't consider another brand at this point.
