On a long ride is it better to have a long sleeved waterproof layer or waterproof vest as protection from wet weather?

well that fully depends on your preference. i would go with a vest, i have yet to find a long sleeve that doesn't make me pour sweat. my wife however is always cold and loves her Gore Bike Wear Power Jacket - Item #GBW0017. so in the end it's all how you ride. or you can get both and always be happy.
