Pearl Izumi Vagabond II Bike Jacket - Women's

The beginning of your bike ride is windy and drizzly. Then the sun breaks through and it turns hot and muggy. Thanks to wind-and water-resistant fabric and zip-off sleeves, the Pearl Izumi Women's Vagabond II Bike Jacket is ready. The Vagabond II Jacket's large back pocket holds the removable sleeves, and hidden zips on the sleeves create a clean look. This lightweight jacket's semi-fitted cut provides a thin-layer option, and two front pockets hold keys and energy gel.

Bottom Line: Zip into Pearl Izumi's vesty-jacket Vagabond II on windy, drizzly, muggy days.

Great Jacket

By:

First cycling jacket I've used, and it's great. Lightweight, cuts the wind, and can stand up to light rain. Sleeves easily come off and stow in the back pocket. I'm 5'8", and the small is plenty long on the torso and is fitted nicely. And the sleeves are even long enough for my gangly arms, which I usually have problems with. I would agree with other reviewers though, the ONE nuisance is the Velcro near your arms when you remove the sleeves. It tends to snag on your shirt if you have long sleeves on. Other than that, it's a great jacket.

This jacket is built from polyester and is designed more as a wind-breaker and light rain jacket than anything. If you're looking for jackets to bike in winter conditions with, I recommend either long sleeve jerseys with a lighter jacket like this or some of these products from Gore:

Recommended!

This is an incredibly versatile, lightweight jacket that does a good job at keeping the windchill off and dries quickly if caught in the rain. I like how the sleeves zip off in one piece and tuck away nicely in the inside pocket. My only complaint would be that when the sleeves are off the velcro snags the mesh if you stuff the jacket away in your pack or whatnot. The jacket's slim fit looks really nice. I'm 5'6" - size 4 and went for size medium. The small was really fitted and I choose to go with the medium for more movement - and because its still pretty cold and rainy in Seattle this time of year - so I'm able to wear a base layer comfortably.

Love it but watch the Velcro!

I love this jacket with the sleeves on but when I unzipped the sleeves, I noticed the Velcro near the armholes would snag my long-sleeve jersey. I thought the problem would fix itself once I was positioned properly on my bike, but when I returned from my ride, my sleeve (upper interior bicep area) was quite ragged. It's the only disappointment, however. The jacket is cut perfectly, has excellent ventilation but also cuts the wind chill without overheating me. I bought the Moab/Golden Orange jacket and receive many compliments on it. I think Pearl Izumi would make a perfect jacket if they'd just switch the rough Velcro to the removable portion of the sleeves and leave the soft Velcro on the jacket body (an easy fix, I think). I'd still recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile, lightweight biking jacket. I'm 5'7" size 6-8 and bought a Medium. It fits perfectly.

Sweet Jacket

This is my first cycling jacket and it is perfect. For rides that start off cool I have sleeves and can shed them when it warms up. I then take the entire thing off and stow it when it gets hot. I wish it packed a little smaller but I can fit it in the straps under my small bike seat bag. The back pocket is an internal mesh pocket instead of the standard bike jersey pocket. It is intended to hold the sleeves (which it does nicely) but I wouldn't put anything else in there. The design is really cool and it has a slimming look. The drop tail gives good coverage on the bike. I have washed it a number of times and is still like new.
