Pearl Izumi Vagabond II Bike Jacket - Men's

You're out on a chilly, misty morning bike ride. Then it gets downright humid. Ballz. Wait, the sleeves on the Pearl Izumi Men's Vagabond II Bike Jacket zip off, so you can keep part of your torso covered by wind- and water-resistant fabric without sweating profusely. A large back pocket on the Vagabond II Jacket stores the sleeves, while front pockets hold keys and energy gel. Hidden zips on the sleeves give this lightweight Pearl Izumi jacket a clean look, while the semi-fitted cut allows for a thin base layer underneath.

Bottom Line: Pearl Izumi's Vagabond II Bike Jacket boasts sleeves-on, sleeves-off versatility.

Thumbs Up

After a few days of shopping for a moderately priced wind shell, I settled on the Izumi Vagabond, and I'm pleased with my choice. Great breathability, nice fit, right amount of pockets and a well designed sleeve removal system. I like the meshed upper back when it's used has a vest, provides a great way to wick the moisture away and also helps with air circulation and venting when used as a jacket. The sleeve pocket being on the inside isn't that big of a problem, most of the time I wear a CamelBak and that's where I would stash them. I know that function is more important then looks, but it really is a nice looking jacket. I'm holding back one star until it passes the durability test and seeing as I live in Western Washington State this jacket will get tons of use.

Technology at a price

1. For being a cemi-fitted jacket, it can feel somewhat binding at times. It could use a more alastic or stretchy materal in certain places. 2. The back pocket to store the sleeves is only accessible from the inside of the jacket. It would be nice to get to it from the outside. 3. When the sleeves are removed there is only a mesh across the upper back.
