Perception Search Series Kayaks
Perception introduced the sit-on-top Search Series Kayaks to give recreational paddlers a stable, easy-to-handle boat that keeps the smile on your face all day. The bow of the ten-foot Search Kayak is super buoyant for those paddlers who dig a little surf action. If you're looking for a kayak with storage for a full-day paddle, choose the 15-foot Search Series Kayak. A bow storage compartment holds your lunch and other daily necessities while the Search Series Kayaks' rear cargo deck secures a dry bag for extra gear or your tackle box. Both Search Series Kayaks have comfortable, adjustable seats.
Bottom Line: Count on the Perception Search Series Kayaks to give you a stable ride when you're out for a little fun on the water.
Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Write your question here...We have two kayaks (Perception 13.5 America)--the small "buckle-type" assembly (mounted to a small bracket on the inside of the kayak) used to tighten up the adjustable back rest has rusted out and broken on both kayaks (they are about 5 years old); The assembly just screws into the bracket and is easily replaceable...where can I find these??

Great boat!

I'm a newbie and next to my iPod, this is one of the coolest things I've ever owned. I've only had it on a lake and it tracks very well, is stable and seems fast. Fishing from it will be good once I've figured out how to do it (boat wakes were fighting with me). My border collie rides in the stern, the only issue with that is she needs to learn to stay seated until the ride has come to a full and complete stop or she'll rock the boat but she hasn't tipped us, yet. Great boat, get one, trick it out and your coolness quotient will rise.

I went to Texas two weeks ago and did alot of paddling in Cayon Lake, and Lake Texan. The Perception Search 13 was great. It paddled with very little energy used, track very well , has a little weather head, but all in all a great yak . Looking forward to doing some fishing soon.

After fishing in my prowler 13 for a season, I demoed the search 13. It's faster and much dryer. I used to plug my scuppers all the time in the P13 (I'm 5'8 175lbs). Now I go scupperless all the time. Worth every penny.
65lbs is no joke though, big difference between the 50lbs of the P13. Keep in mind that this comes with the seat, unlike other kayaks - and seats cost $100-150 for most.

Just up graded from 12 ft ocean kayak speck model to search model.
Wow what a difference very stable ,dry.fast boat.
Was sitting in water in the speck.
Only had the search out 1 time but what a great boat.
My plans are to use for offshore and bay water fishing.
Best boat i ever paddled for the money.
At 60 lbs its easy to handle.
i'm 5'8" 172 lbs and the only water i noticed in cockpit is down by foot scupper holes.
yes i would definetly recommend this boat to experienced or noobie paddler
Me on cayon lake

This may be tough to use in the ocean because of the waves but lakes and fishing will be fine.

Ive had this out about a dozen times now. It is a very comfortable boat with lots of extra touches not found standard on most kayaks. the side pouches, tackle box and holder, rod holders and nice carry handles on front and side being the best. The kayak tracks very well and has pretty good speed. You pay for that with a little less maneuverability, but still easy to handle. Thumbs up on this kayak.

My Husband needs a kayak that will fit someone 6'2". We bought a kayak on line and it fits me at 5'4" but not my husban how do you know size?

At 6'2", a 15' like this should be fine for him. I am just a little taller than him and use a 9'6" kayak, however it is a sit-in not a sit-on-top.

Got into kayak fishing 3 yrs ago
My first kayak was an ocean kayak speck
Same as the Ocean Kayak scrambler xl
Paddled this boat for 2.5 yrs and decided to upgrade,
Looked at the WS ride 135 nice boat stable just hard for me to paddle I'm 5'7" 178 lbs.
Tried the Native watercraft M/R12 but sides to high .i like to fish side saddled.
Wife has a Tarpon 12 nice boat just to tippsy for me and wet ride.
Bought the search 13 and wow what a boat.
Tracks well ,High dry ride ,very stable.and at 60 lbs its a little heavy but easy enough to load and unload.
Have used this boat for bay water fishing and BTB offshore fishing .
This is a well thought out kayak with the Angler in mind. lots of dry storage and plenty of cockpit room.
The large tank well carries a milk crate and plenty of room for small soft sided ice chest
and tackle gear.
For the price and stability this boat is worth looking at.
Glad i did........
