Perception Carolina 14 Kayak w/ Rudder

Enjoy a smooth, stable day of paddling with Perception's Carolina 14 Kayak w/ Rudder. An adjustable seat keeps your back and butt comfortable, while padded knee-bracing options let you paddle with your legs up when a change of position is in order. Secure waterproof maps on deck under the bungee rigging, and stash your lunch and other gear in the bow and stern hatches. The Carolina 14 Kayak's pull-down rudder helps with steering when the wind kicks up on the lake or in the ocean, and a side-mounted holder keeps your paddle secure when you stop to take pictures.

Bottom Line: Pull down the rudder and steer clear of the dock with Perception's Carolina 14 Kayak.

Oh my gosh I love my kayak; it is strong, sturdy, large storage hatches, great seals, comfortable and roomy inside. I put it on Lake Washington here in Seattle Washington and had a blast. I'll soon be kayaking and island hoping, and whale watching...up close and personal. This kayak came at a sweet price, Thanks a million

I plan to run primarily on lakes in Indiana, but would like to take a trip down the occasional lazy river. Is this kayak suitable for light river use? Of course the rudder would be unusable. I guess the concern is length. Thanks for any input.

Carolina 14

This is a great boat! Tracks well in the chop and is relatively stable for its width. Seat is awesome and I'm glad I went the extra yard and ordered the rudder. I wish I had a couple extra feet on the boat for storage purposes, but hey! Still a great boat.

Boat trade-offs

By: Eclipse 16(2)

This is a well-made and quality boat that has taken my wife and children for many a stable trip. The hatches are tight, the seating is comfortable and very adjustable. The hull is chined which adds to the tracking and flat for stability, but the trade-off is that it lacks cruising speed and grabs more current water than my Perception Eclipse 16. I would not recommend this boat for rough open water, whitewater, or choppy conditions. But for calm bays, lakes, and flat water it is an excellent choice for the beginner and tourer.

Great touring kayak

I used this kayak on a lake trip. It's a very fast boat. I like the storage compartments and the seat was very comfy. My only complaint is that it gets a little squirrelly with undercurrents in the water...but the rudder helps that. Could have more room for taller paddlers, I'm 6' and found it tight.
