Perception Carolina Series Kayak 13.5 w/Rudder - 2006
The Perception Carolina 13.5 kayak mounted with a Yakima rudder provides beginners and experienced paddlers alike a stable, responsive platform with comfortable technical features. More importantly, the Carolina is a boatload of fun, pun intended. For years the Carolina series has proven themselves as stable, forgiving boats that make good use of some of best features of recreational boats on a sleeker, more performance oriented touring boat. In short, this is truly the boat for the people. The Carolina tracks easily, even more so with the included rudder. A molded seat cradles your rear end, a Camlock adjustable backrest keeps you posture honest without straining on long days. Be more comfortable, go faster, go farther, and go longer than you thought possible with your first boat. Even if it's not your first boat, you'll still get a huge kick out of the Carolina.
Bottom Line: Popularity hasn't gone to its head.

Great guest boat

I race kayaks and bought the Perception Carolina to have on hand for houseguests to share the water with me. It has been a great success. It is sturdy enough to handle being dragged on the beach, set down on rocky beaches, backed (with rudder down) in to shore. Only one guest has ever managed to capsize it and we are still not sure how! If only it were a little lighter!
Great Kayaks

Excellent value. Large entry, stable, wide base. Good storage for a few days/week trip. Rudder is an excellent feature. Seat is air adjustable, quite comfortable. Would recommend this for intermediates. I love it!
