Perception Lanakai 12.5 Kayak - 2006

The Perception Lanakai 12.5 sit-on-top kayak lets you bring a friend and an extra paddle for a day of fun playing in the surf, or straight-tracking in bigger water. The two of you will appreciate the long lines of the 12.5, which make long distances shrink before your very paddles. Take what you need with dual storage hatches and Tightlock cooler/cargo straps. To make it even more comfortable, there are deck-mounted accessory loops to add seats and thighbraces for long-distance enjoyment. Or, go without so you can have the perfect SCUBA platform. awesome kayak, great price!

My parents decided to buy me a kayak for Christmas this year. I chose the Perception Lanakai 12.5, and I just took it out this past weekend on some bays in the Tampa Bay area. It performed great. I went alone one day and with a friend the next, and both days were fantastic. It’s totally stable and quick on the water. Only drawback is that it's a little heavy, esp. for one female paddler. But overall, an excellent performer. Plus, I got it on sale, no tax, free shipping—it doesn't get any better than that! Thank you!!!

I ordered the Perception Lanakai 12.5 because of the free shipping from backcountry.com. It arrived 10 days later and after spending the weekend touring in it I am extremely happy with the kayak and the service from backcountry.
The kayak is well made with good attention to detail and it tracks well with only myself paddling from the back seat and my dog in the front (who won't paddle). I'm going to get scupper plugs for the back seat scuppers as water does enter the seat compartment.
Great kayak, great service.....what more can I say.
