They started with burly leather palms to provide solid grip on ice tools and to withstand long belays and rappels. The Primo Gloves' stretch shell increases flexibility while the Deluge DWR inserts keep your hands moisture free. Patagonia concentrated the insulation on the back of the hand to allow for better grip, and the removable pile liners dry quickly at a belay or at the bivy.
