Patagonia Down Jacket - Men's

The Patagonia Men's Down Jacket offers the kind of warmth that winter wanderers need. Close the full-length zipper that is backed by a full-length flap, to trap every blessed ounce of heat your body produces. For shady belays and cold, clear days on the slopes, the Down Jacket use 700-fill European Goose feathers to retain warmth. Reinforcement on the shoulders and sleeves add durability to this personal heater. Deep hand warmer pockets allow you to heat up your fingers after scraping ice off of the car or completing a summit bid.

Bottom Line: Get down but not out with this extra warm jacket from Patagonia.

Rob -
Cleaning this jacket should be no big deal. Either handwash it or use a commercial front-load washer. Use soap made specifically for down items (REI, Nikwax, etc.). Hit the rinse cycle twice to get every trace of soap out. Dry it in a commercial dryer on low to medium heat with a few tennis balls.

Nice jacket

This is the best down jacket I have tried so far. I tried the Marmot Ama Dablam (didn't fit right) and the The North Face Aconcagua (not warm enough) and the Patagonia down is just right. It is a little bit shorter than I would like, but it's not enough to deter me from keeping it. I am 6'0"/165 lbs and got a Medium; everything from Patagonia fits me in Medium, so this is standard Patagonia fit. Haven't had it long enough to tell about durability, but it seems like it will hold up nicely, the fabric seems sturdier than some down jackets that seem as if they would rip easily. Recommended.

Awsome jacket

I originally bought the Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Jacket, however it was a little bulky compared to this jacket. I am glad I upgraded to this jacket. It is warmer, lighter, and way more comfy.

This is the first piece of Patagonia clothing I have owned but it won't be the last. It is very warm and keeps the wind off nicely.

Would have kept it if it fit

After research a bunch of down jackets I decided on the Patagonia. It was a little small so I returned it, so I can only comment on how it fit. The sleeves, as well as the overall fit, were short (I ordered a Medium and I'm 5'9, 160 lb). I can say I really liked the full fleece lining on the inside of the collar and the hand warmer pockets. I have since tried on a Large and was swimming in it.

I wore this jacket well below freezing and it was awesome. It packs down well, and the face fabric beads water well. The workmanship of the garment is better than other down jackets I have, there are no loose seams. Down leakage over a 7 day hike was non-existent. Well done Patagonia. Shipping and service was exemplary.

So warm, so comfy

Perfect puffball coat for backcountry travel. Fleece neck lining and fleece-lined pockets are super warm and soft. It comes with a stuff sack too, so you can put it in your pack without losing a ton of space. Also doubles as a nice pillow when you're in your sleeping bag. Highly recommended, unless you really need a hood. I have this one in Stainless, and it gets dark stains where it touches oily skin (which is pretty common when backpacking). This is common for all ripstop nylon though.

I've had the jacket on two trips since I bought it a couple weeks ago. It was probably my favorite piece of gear.
