Outdoor Research PL 400 Glove - Men's

Two layers of fleece team up for supreme warmth in the Outdoor Research PL 400 Gloves. The burly 300-weight fleece outer layer is attached to a plush 100-weight fleece lining, so this glove won't balk at pulling a.m. windshield-clearing duty. The smooth exterior of the PL 400 makes for light water-repellency and wind protection, as well as smooth sliding when you combine it with one of Outdoor Research's mitts or glove shells. The MotionWrap construction keeps fingers surprisingly dexterous by tucking seams out of your grasp, and the PL 400's grippy silicone palm won't let the steering wheel spin out of control.

Bottom Line: Ever heard of 400-weight fleece? Neither had we, until Outdoor Research brought the PL 400 Gloves around and blew our minds.

Loved them, I lost a pair on the Denver lightrail so I had to get another pair. It was 50F in the morning and then in the 70s when I got off of work, so off went my coat and gloves, lol. Don't lose them like I did as you will miss them and they are not cheap!

Outdoor Research PL 400 - really warm gloves

By:
September 4, 2008

I bought these for a recent trip to Denali, and was really pleased with them. They have a grippy palm, which is good for handling an ice axe or fiddling with climbing gear. They're surprisingly warm considering how thin they are. I wore them until about 16,000 feet before needing to switch into a shelled glove for more warmth. Also, they layer nicely under a heavy duty mitten for when you need to take the mitten off for dexterity. Another nice feature is that they clip together when not in use, which helps keep from losing them.

Perfect fit

These are probably one of the better fitting gloves I've owned. They keep my hands warm and dry. The rubbery texture on the fingers and palms really help me grip on things. For such a thin material, I'm surprised of its durability. Highly recommended.

just what I was looking for

This was my second pair of Outdoor Research gloves, and both have been great. These fit perfectly, and I especially liked how they were fitted at the wrist. The grips are effective without being inelastic. I have worn them mainly for walking my dog, driving, scraping my car, or around town. Temps have been from -10 to around 30. If it gets below 15-20 or is especially windy you may feel it a small amount, but not any worse than other gloves I have worn of this thickness. Overall, very pleased!

Tickle the fancy

By:

The PL 400 gloves tickle my fancy. I've tried other fleece gloves but they are the first pair that I have owned that give you a sense as if you are almost wearing nothing on your hands. I can actually grip things with my fingers and get work done. They are light and snug, but extremely comfortable. The silicone does a great job giving your hand the ability to grip things. They are not as warm as you would think they are but for me they are warm enough. 20's to 40's these gloves are in their element. In the low teens you will feel the cold and you will feel "some" wind, but you will still able to feel warmth. When it gets really cold I slide my hardshell gloves over these and I am good to go.
