Oakley JP Auclair Signature Crowbar Goggles - 2008
Oakley honors freeskiing icon and New Canadian Air Force pilot J.P. Auclair with his very own Signature Crowbar Goggle. Back in the 1990’s, the N.C.A.F. fired the first shots in the freeski invasion, and J.P. flew many sorties through enemy terrain parks, taking out hardened perceptions of skiing’s limitations with every pass. Now that the war is over, he spends his time touring the globe, telling tales of the revolution and acting as an ambassador to nations with little freeski exposure. Currently he is focusing on Japan, and his Crowbar design reflects his location with a superimposed map of the Tokyo subway system on the frame. Everything else about the award-winning Crowbar remains the same, from the XYZ Optics and anti-fog coating, to Oakley’s super-deluxe triple-layer fleece face foam.
Bottom Line: Honor those who fought for your freeskidom.
Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

whats up neighboor!!!!! :-)...i am a huge huge fan of fire lenses because of thier looks, but for performance; i hate to say it but its not the best for our crappy overcast and changing conditions...if your looking at this goggle then the persimmon will be the best, for any other oakley gogs i reccomend h.i. persimmon for washington weather specifically, i have that and it works brilliantly in everything but bright sun

very comfortable, sick design, and works well with helmet which was one of my main concerns. Great peripheral vision and none of the lens fog. not for smaller sized faces though.

I need help choosing a lens for the Crowbar, not necessarily the Auclair version. Which lens is best if you are only going to have one pair or the best all-around lens?

I would go with the HI Persimmon or the HI Yellow. They are pretty similar lenses. The Persimmon will do a little better on bright days while the Yellow will hander overcast/flat light days better. I feel like its easier to deal with brightness than flat light, so I would probably go with the HI yellow, but its up to you.

Are the fire lenses worth the extra money?

The fire lenses block a little more light, making the bright sunny days a little easier on your eyes. The persimmon lens is more of an all around lens. It's made for more overcast days, but still isn't to straining on your eyes on the bright sunny days. The fire lenses are also reflective looking from the outside if this is something you like or want. So if your eyes are more sensitive to light, then they're worth the money, but in my case, I prefer the persimmon lens in more conditions than the fire lens.
