Oakley Wisdom Goggle

The Wisdom Goggle uses Oakley’s F-3 series anti-fog treatment and a Plutonite lens to bring you crystal vision in any and all conditions the weather brings your way. Contoured to facial geometry, the Wisdom offers a precise, comfortable fit enhanced by triple-layer face foam. An arctic blast shield blocks icy powder burns. Oakley retooled the intake ports for channeled airflow that reduces fog while keeping air currents away from eyes. These goggles are also available with a High Intensity lens for overcast days and an Iridium lens for sunny days.

Bottom Line: Oakley has topped themselves in design and style.

Nice, but problems

By:

The iridium lenses, at least the pink iridium version, has terrible reflections on the inside of the lens. It seems the inside surface is as mirrorlike as the outside. Gave me a headache. These goggles fit nicely without a helmet, but are too tall from the bridge of the nose to the forehead to work well with a helmet. Too bad, cuz otherwise they're very nice (with a non-iridium lens).

I have fit these with many helmets. I wonder if yours is just larger than most. If you got the gogs from BC.com, return them and pick out a new product.

Looks awesome, but warn your nose

By:
November 16, 2008

I have to admit, I never actually took these out on the mountain, so I can't speak for the performance of the lens; however, I'm sure it's great by reading other reviews. The reason: They sit so low and tight on my nose that I can hardly breathe through it. I didn't want to experience what they would feel like after a tiring run on the slopes. I guess a lot of other people don't have this problem (I noticed only one other reviewer who mentioned it), but if you've got any kind of size to your nose, I wouldn't go with these. I know my nose isn't small, but I wouldn't call it abnormally large or anything. I really hate it though, cause the white camo is eaisly the sweetest looking goggles I've seen and everything I've read about Oakley goggles has been top notch. So if you've got a tiny little nose, go for it. If not, I'd go with Smith or Dragon, they seem to fit me pretty well.

Will Work With Helmet

By:
November 16, 2008

These goggles are great and will work perfectly fine with the new helmet straps included with the newer models of the Wisdoms. The old straps were a hard plastic with three studs near the band and a circle where the strap attached to the frame. This strap would and will not work with a helmet even if you were it underneath your helmet. Strap is too short and it will not sit properly on your face. However, the new strap is flexible and longer. It also has a rubber grip along the inside of the strap so it wont move around on your helmet. Great feature when using with a helmet. Make sure you are wearing a beanie or something on your head or the rubber will start ripping some of your hair out. If you get the old strap with your wisdoms, you can always buy the helmet strap from oakley. If you can try and buy the wisdoms with the new strap. You'll love these goggles.

Newer Wisdoms Helmet Friendly

By:
November 14, 2008

The newer Oakley wisdoms with the o matter helmet straps work very well with any helmet. Fits perfectly.. the old straps had the hard plastic ends that wouldnt fit any helmet you put on and the straps were short. Look for the newer ones. The old ones look like a triangle with three studs where there straps are and a circle where frame meets the strap. The new straps are very flexible and have the rubber along the inside strap so it wont slip off your helmet. Look for these straps. As for the goggles. They are an awesome looking goggle. They fit great and perform even better. The optics of these goggles have perfect clarity. The assortment of lenses to choose from depending the weather conditions outside are great. The lenses will stratch if you wipe the inside while it is wet, but oakley warns you about this. So make sure its dry before you start wiping those smudges away. Use the provided storage bag to wipe your lenses and you wont have to worry about putting any new scratches on your goggles. They triple layer foam fleece wick away sweat from your face. The air surge ports keep the air flowing preventing any fogging in the goggle. The frame is a nice polyurethane lens which means it holds it shape pretty well but still has some flex to it. These things dont feel like your cheap 20 goggles. There are a bunch of other goggles out in the market today. But you can never go wrong with oakley and their product line. They have a model to fit everyones face.

Here is some WISDOM for ya

These are some great goggles. The lenses are like a car wind shield, making peripheral vision awesome so you can see that crazy dude bonzai'n' down the hill making a b-line for you. Hoever if you have a small head these probably aren't for you, according to my roommate who in 5'6". I'm 6'4"

Not Helmet Friendly

By:
November 4, 2008

Sick goggles, just not if you're going to wear a helmet. They'll work, but the buckle of the strap keeps the frames from sitting square on your face... Makes them kind of awkward. If not wearing a helmet, they're great

Wisdoms

By:
October 23, 2008

First of all, these are Oakleys, so you can't go wrong. No fogging, great comfort, good quality, and of course good style. I own a pair of these and love them. The lens are crystal clear and you often forget you're wearing them. As for the lens tents, I have a persimmon lens which shows from the chart to allow 61% light through. These seem to be an all around tent for me. Even on the bright sunny days I can get by and the cloudy days work as well. I have an H.I. Yellow lens for cloudier days and night riding. Anything much darker than 61% would be tough on cloudy days, and anything that allows much more than 61% light would be an eye squinting experience on sunny days. To help those who are trying to decide between Crowbars, Wisdoms, and A-Frames hopefully I can help. First, the A-Frames tend to fit a medium to smaller face. They're definately the smallest of the three. Because of this they also have the least amount of peripherel vision when wearing them. However, if you're face is smaller you probably won't notice this anyways. The Crowbars and Wisdoms are made for the medium to larger faces. Both have a bigger field of view than the A-Frames but are slightly differently shaped. The Crowbars and A-frames have the typical goggle shape while the Wisdoms have more of a rounded shape towards the bottom. I find that the Crowbars fit tighter around your nose than the Wisdoms do. So if you have a bigger nose I would go with the Wisdoms. Either way, all three are great goggles, and better yet, if you order from here and they don't fit, you can send them back and change your order without any problem. These guys have GREAT customer service!

I received these goggles after an incredible buy and not trying them on. They fit with, or without a helmet (I wear the r.e.d. Hi-Fi XL). TOTALLY STOKED! the polarized oakley lense is completely worth the price. I'll be rockin these for a long time!!!

Rock the Wisdoms

By:
September 17, 2008

I use the Wisdoms with a Blk Iridium lens for all my blue bird days...These lens are sweet! Perfect clarity and plenty of tint to protect/ relax the eyes, even on the brightest of days you never need to squint. I have a medium sized face and the frames fit great, but the stock strap does not fit a helmet well (to narrow). I replaced the strap with Oakleys after market helmet strap which sits a little wider and features a rubber backing for gripping the helmet. Awesome upgrade! My only complaint here, the peripheral vision of these goggles are a bit limited, you get a wider view with the Crowbars. Ohhh and channeled airflow works, I have yet to see them fog. Good Stuff.
