Norrøna Narvik Gore-Tex Comfortshell Jacket - Men's

Cut down on bulk when you wear the Norrona Men's Narvik Comfortshell Gore-Tex Jacket into the backcountry. Norrona used windproof, waterproof Gore-Tex Soft Shell to create the minimalist Narvik Jacket. This stretchy softshell not only protects you from Momma Nature's worst weather, it also lets you posthole up a ridge without overheating and schuss down the slopes without feeling constricted. Welded seams prevent moisture from sneaking in, and they are sleeker than sewn or taped seams, which results in a less bulky jacket that's easier to pack and more comfortable to wear.

Bottom Line: The Narvik Comfortshell Gore-Tex Jacket feels like a second layer of skin—warm, dry skin.

Great Jacket!!!

Great Jacket! The only downside is I was only able to ski 2 days with it this year. I love the built in "monkey thumbs", the detachable powder skirt, integrated goggle wipe, and it's built like a rock!!! Would definitely buy this brand again in a heartbeat

I bought this jacket yesterday. But comparing with Norrona's 2007 catalogue, it seems that you make a mistake on the title of this item, it's "Narvik Gore-Tex Comfortshell Jacket" not "Narvik Gore-Tex Comfortweld Jacket".

Despite the mis-spelling, is the Narvik jacket functional? The mis-spelling is the result of U.S. Marketing tactics. Gore-Tex Soft-Shell speaks for itself. The coined word "weled seams" replaced "seam-taped" and thus it became appropriate as the selling point to the "got-to-have-it-feature-geeks" that swear by it's technical function - a must have for the elitist. A classic example of what we Americans think a named item from another country should be called. There are several well sought after brands that feature this "modern-marvel invention" and by mentioning this, it definitely is an edge in sales. Don't blame Backcountry, it's the manufacturer's selling company. I am still waiting for my Narvik to arrive. I can't wait to put it to the test. I was looking for "pit-zips" on this jacket but the "chest-vents" and "thumbed-inlets" was the difference from what everyone else has. I will write a review then.

I received my Narvik Comfortably welded/shell Jacket the other day and I just wanted to say that it is absolutely amazing! The construction, the material/ actually the outershell is more of a welded rain jacket, the inner material is the breathable softshell/, the functionability, its strength, and the detailed features are exactly what I was looking for - and it doesn't have "name-markings" all over it. I don't want to look like a walking billboard. I make a quick comparison w/my Arc't's Beta SL and Scorpion jackets, and was quite overwhelmed with the Norrona Narvik's slightly, significantly superior craftmanship. The weight of this jacket is as advertised - an all year/season gear - and it does come with a zip-on and off powder skirt. Also, the arm pocket houses an extra compartment, and a media pocket is located inside. At 6'1 and 195lbs, the XL fits perfectly. I usually wear LRG in Mountain Hardwear, TNF, Arc'Teryx, Millet, and Marmot - but thanks to this site's gear-blog I was aware of the fit. THNX! If you are interested in this jacket - TRY IT! It's worth the price if you don't mind spending for a sound outdoor wear investment that's guaranteed. I am looking forward to investigating other Norrona gear.
