Norrøna Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket - Men's

The Norrona Men's Lofoten Jacket isn't messing around. Its Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric guarantees you'll stay dry while you're out there glutting on powder. This ultra-lightweight, extremely waterproof shell keeps you drier than Tupperware, but it breathes deeply so you don't feel like a clammy slab of leftover lasagna after a few laps on your splitboard. This fully taped ski jacket's long venting zips cool you down when your temperature climbs, and they also allow access to your mid-layer's pockets. Norrona's zip-seal system lets you attach the Lofoten Jacket to you Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Pants.

Bottom Line: The Norrona Lofoten Shell lets you get your fill of snow—without feeling it in your jacket.

True Shell

Great jacket. To echo Flatlander, the cut of the collar and hood are great for good coverage when up or down. It is a pure shell, though, no warmth at all, just complete water- and windproofness - great for backcountry layering, but not a catch-all resort jacket. I like the cut, too, it isn't a big tent like a lot of other shells, and it doesn't have the standard 2-tone color scheme like all the other technical jackets. Overall, I give it a 4 1/2 star rating, not 5, because it's a little pricey.

really did not like this jacket - had to return it immediately. the gore tex is very thin, that is considered as an advantage by many, but to me it felt like a rain shell jacket and the cut really sucked. the jacket is very tight around the wast and baggy on top. dude, I really did not like it, I much prefer arc'teryx, marmot and mountain hardwear over this.

Have owned Patagonia Primo and Arcteryx shells in the past and love this one more than both of the previous. The shell is extremely light and the Gore Pro breathes like no other. I'm 5'10", 160 lbs and the medium is a perfect athletic fit. If you don't like floppy hoods, the one piece hood/collar combo snugs up to the back of your neck when hot in use, but still fits well over a helmet when you need it. I also got the Norrona pants and the shell either buttons to or zips in for a bombproof combo.
