Necky Manitou II Tandem Kayak - 2008
Grab a paddling partner and head down to the river with Necky's Manitou 2 Tandem Kayak. The Manitou 2 glides like a touring kayak with the stability and comfort of a recreational kayak. An extended keel provides smooth tracking—even if your friend in the front isn't as savvy a paddler as you are. Bring Rover along in the larger back cockpit, or purchase a kid's jump seat (not included) and bring your little one along for their first boat ride. When you want to go it alone, adjust the back seat for a solo paddle. Move the back of the Manitou 2 Tandem Kayak's seat forward, backwards or up to give yourself lumbar support, and bring up the bottom of Necky's kayak seat to relieve stress on your legs as you paddle. Store snacks and drinks in the stern hatch and get out into nature's wilderness.
Bottom Line: Bring a friend and man's best friend with you in Necky's Manitou 2 Tandem touring Kayak.

I am also looking for a rudder manual for this kayak. I bought it without the rudder and I want to install one now...having tracking problems at higher speeds. I am very handy and think I can do it on my own, but i need a manual! I will post one if I find it.

Good Beginner kayak

I bought this as a beginner, for my wife and I. It has been good in calm waters, but it has problems tracking at higher paddling speeds. The bottom of the kayak indents when both her and I are in it, and I think that affects its fluid dynamics a lot. i also got it without a rudder, and I am going to put one on because it is hard to steer compared to other kayaks. I weigh 180 and she is 150 and it seems maxed out with our weight...it flexes a little too much...i would not recommend this. The harder kayaks seem more stable.
What is the difference between this kayak and the green Necky
What is the difference between this kayak and the green Necky manitou II ? They seem almost identical...would like to know the specifics of why they are different as the yellow one is more money. Looking for a versatile family kayak that we can use on rivers and lakes and can be paddled solo if so desired. Why does one have a 3yr warranty vs. a one yr warranty??

From what I've seen, A Manitou II is a Manitou II. Regardless of color. In this case, I think the Lime Green wasn't a good selling color, so they've probably dropped the color from the inventory and are dropping the price to unload it. If you don't mind lime green, it's a great price for a new Manitou II

Honestly it is pretty tricky and so much a hastle that most companies do not sell kits. I have seen people "hack" the kayak and rig one on but if you are not technical, be careful. You can check with Necky and see what they can do. Another option is find a local paddle shop and see if they can put one on. Ideally the thing to do is pay the extra and get one with it already installed as it is a pain and sometimes will cost more to install it later. That is not including the pain of possible poking holes in your perfectly good rudder-less boat.
