MontBell America, Inc. U.L. Alpine Down Hugger #1 Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

On fall and early spring backpacking trips, pack MontBell's U.L. Alpine Down Hugger #1 15-Degree Sleeping Bag and kiss chattering teeth goodbye. At a scant 2lb 2oz, this 3-season down bag minimizes weight, but maximizes comfort and warmth. Vertical baffles along the chest prevent the 800-fill down from migrating to the side of the bag at night, keeping it at your core. Elastic stitching sewn caresses your body to preserve warmth without compromising freedom of movement. MontBell also gave the Alpine Down Hugger #1 a PolkaTex DWR coating, so it shrugs off light rain and condensation. Shorter users can close off the last baffle for even greater heat efficiency.

Bottom Line: For lightweight backpacking trips or alpine climbs, it's hard to do better than #1.

Survived High Sierras November

By: Akos (2)
November 23, 2007

Outside temp ~17F very dry weather, water froze inside the tent as well. I was wearing warm base layer pants, wicking layer plus a thin wool pullover and wool socks. Plus a liner in the bag. The bag kept me warm, feet to. Didn't feel any cold spots and was confortable. I'm 6' and bought and the bag is the long one which was quite spatious. The next nights were a bit warmer (still below freezing point) and the bag was toasty. Packs small and really lightweight.
