To elaborate a little bit... if you are looking for a more weather-proof down jacket. Try Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Jacket. It is not water-proof in construction but it is extremely weather proof due to the Conduit laminate used in the fabric of the jacket.

I bought my wife the lt. blue and she made me trade if for lt. green. I loved the blue but she said it was just a hair too turquoise.
She loves the great though!

I originally purchased 2 other jackets this year before I found this one. The first one was a North Face which ended up LOOKING fantastic on, but had some other problems. The 2nd one was the Sub Zero Jacket- which (I'm not too picky- just want lots of warmth) looked TERRIBLE on me. So I opted to try this one. I just got it today. Tried it on immediatley with a sweatshirt on since that's what I'm wearing. It fit great. Not TOO big and certaintly not too small. Feels like it's gonna be warm- and IS totally snuggly as previously mentioned by other reviewers. Does run big. I am 5'5", approx 130 pounds- normally wear a medium in everything else- including the Mountain Hardware Sub Zero JACKET- but the small with this parka gives me just enough room WITH a sweatshirt on. Goes to (my)mid-butt. I'm excited I found this jacket!!

Does the hood have a drawstring system to pull it tight around...

Does the hood have a drawstring system to pull it tight around my face when the wind blows? Also, I am 5'5'', 125 lbs, and have slightly long arms. How does the arms length run? Would I be best with a medium?

The hood has a drawstring that works wonderfully in wind, and check the sizing chart for the size you want. I'm 5'9", 145, and have unusually long arms too, but the men's medium fits me fine.

Yes. It comes with a little stuff sac. I keep mine in one of the pockets so whenever the jacket is in the way, I just bag it.

The hood's not detachable, and it's long enough to cover your lower back even if you bend over or squat. Slightly below the waist when standing.

Actually Angus, the hood IS detachable and the jackets center back length is 28.5" and this is the measurement from the base of the collar to the bottom of the jacket. In other words, the jacket comes down to just below your butt! Hope this info helps.

It's cut a bit long so that when you bend or crouch, nothing in back gets *ahem* exposed, so when standing it'll probably go past the bum. The men's does.

My jacket covers part of my butt when standing, but not all. (The women's at least.)

Ok, I am usually not a pansy, but I cannot really go anywhere without this jacket. Camping, Backpacking, Running Daily errands...you name it, this jacket can do it. It's 650 fill down keeps me warm and snuggly in almost any conditions. The pockets are lined with gold.....I mean fleece that makes my hands sing! And the hood is detachable making it a very versatile piece. Runs a little bit on the big side, so your natural size will be sufficient for layering.

I am sorry.. I don't see where it says it has no hood. The sidebar tech specs say: "Hood: Yes" and the picture shows a hood. I think you are right on the money when you thought it had a hood.
