Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Parka - Women's

Just received this jacket yesterday and tested it out this morning - it's Inauguration Day here in Washington and you can probably tell from all the video how cold it is. I took the dog for a long walk in it this morning - wind chill around 12 degrees, and it kept me very toasty. If only I could have had my whole body wrapped in it! I bought an Extra Small - I'm about 5' 4", 119 lbs., and it fits great. However, if you have broad hips, the Extra Small might not work for you because the bottom of the jacket is right around the broadest part of your hips. Definitely worth every penny - the Rhododendron color is gorgeous, and the service was phenomenal. Thanks, Backcountry!

I absolutely love this jacket, both for general winter use and for mountaineering trips. It kept me very warm and the hood was really valuable during breaks. It's easy to stuff in your pack alone, and for packing it has a nice little stuff sack with it too. This jacket and I have a great future together.

I wanted a warm jacket to wear on the Iditarod dogsled trail in Alaska last month. This jacket was not warm enough but I wore it under another. I am 5'5, 130 lbs ordered a small and it fits well. It was perfect for the day I went skiing and cross country. I am happy with it back here in New Zealand it is cosy warm for this climate, not waterproof. I like the lemongrass colour.

Most snugly jacket ever! I love it. It also comes with a little sac thing that you can stuff it in. Its way nice when you're backpacking or just want to throw it somewhere and have it small and out of the way. Runs Big. I'm 5'4 135 lbs and bought an XS.

I've had my sub zero down parka for 2 years and have absolutely loved it. I have used it on 2 expeditions, one to the Himalaya and the other to Aconcagua and used it everyday. It's warm and durable. I also wear it around town, it gets into the teens during the winter where I live and it's super comfy. My only complaint is the arms are a little too short in the size small, I'm 5'8", 130 lbs.

I've never had a coat that I get too warm in!! I am always cold and this jacket lets me stand around as base camp and still stay toasty! I am 5'7 125 and the small fits just right with room for base layers.

Seriously warm, seriously comfy, seriously weather proof. I bought the small and it fits to size...the hood is terrific. This jacket is money

Very warm. Not waterproof or windproof, so if its really cold, windy, and wet I put a windproof fleece on underneath and a waterproof shell on over it. Warm, super comfortable, and really high quality everything. I bought it because it had a hood and was long enough to be warm...definitely worth the money.

Chicago winters can be brutal! Not anymore as this jacket keeps me warm in even single digit temperatures. The detachable hood covers most of the face leaving your eyes and nose only unprotected. I am 5'6'', 140 lbs. and women's medium is perfect. I am not disappointed and will continue to reccommend this jacket to anyone who will listen!

This parka (more like a jacket) is light and toasty. And winds did not penetrate. Small was out, so I ordered xs. I'm 5'5" 112 lbs. The sleeves were bit shorter than I like and the parka came half-way down my butt, but the torso fit great - roomy enough to wear with my winter clothes. And like always, Backcountry did an excellent job delivering the order in speedy time!

This coat is great! Wanted a very warm coat w/ great coverage--not too short. Less unflattering than most other down coats. Got the purple and love the color as well.

I haven't taken this coat in the back country yet but on some below zero weekends it has kept me warm in town. I'm almost 5'11" and the lenth of the body of the coat is great and also the arms are long enough which is hard for me to find. The body is a little boxier than I would like but I am skinny and it is hard to find a coat that is long enough without being boxy. So far I am very happy with this coat!

love the coat. super warm, ive even had to take it off bc i got too hot walking in the park. it does run large though, i got a med and it fits great.

I did not know what I did before this coat entered my life! I live in Northern Minnesota and this coat keeps me warm in absolutely any conditions. The hood is especially helpful during windy conditions and below zero temps. I do, however, feel like a big ball of down with no shape. I did not get the jacket, however, because it flattered my figure:)

Ok, I am usually not a pansy, but I cannot really go anywhere without this jacket. Camping, Backpacking, Running Daily errands...you name it, this jacket can do it. It's 650 fill down keeps me warm and snuggly in almost any conditions. The pockets are lined with gold.....I mean fleece that makes my hands sing! And the hood is detachable making it a very versatile piece. Runs a little bit on the big side, so your natural size will be sufficient for layering.

This jacket is so warm and cozy, I don't know how I stayed warm before I bought this jacket! The rhododendron color is beautiful, and the fit is flattering. I bought a small originally but was too big. Sent back for an XS and its PERFECT (I'm 5'1'' 120 lbs and never wear an XS)

Syracuse, NY is one of the coldest places in the world (ok, I'm exaggerating, but it is freakin cold). This coat is warm like a wood stove. If you are an average sized person, it will look the same on as it does in the photo... it is not flattering at all, the sleeves are a bit puffy, but if you don't mind hiding your shape in the name of avoiding hypothermia, this jacket will do it. My only qualm is the material can easily snag... I got caught on a car door and was nervous about how badly it would rip (it didn't, but there is a little pull). It's not that tough, so if you are doing "action sports" (skiing, hiking, etc) you might want to consider a shell. It's all about function- not fashion- when it's this freaking cold out, though! And the turquoise blue is gorgeous

This jacket is warm enough to unfreeze a witch's teat, and it has kept mine from freezing as well. The shape is not as bulky as other down jackets that I have had, which is a plus. The hood is awesome. It also packs down small and is pretty light. Has everything you need in a down jacket.

I love this coat! No drafts from underneath the coat, no space in the neck to make me nippy! It is seriously one of the best buys I've made in a long time! I would recommend this coat to anyone!

Mountain Hardwear gear rocks but pattern makers sure could finetune their sizing. The sleeves on this jacket (length) do not correspond with the sizing. I tried both the Medium and Small for sizing and the small fit me perfectly but the sleeves were a tad too short when I move my arms. The sleeves on the medium were more in line with a small size. MH could easily have worked out this issue by adding an inner cuff to the sleeves, especially a fleece one. There is a cinch (velcro) on the end of the sleeve but you have to really cinch this tight to account for the large sleeve opening. It's the one part of this jacket that I don't like. I kept the jacket because it meets all other specs ... but if I had worn it around and realized the sleeves are an issue I wouldn't have purchased it. I have a lot of MH gear and I will say sizing isn't standard to industry nor is it consistant to MH so buyer beware: Get the measurements for all length seams!

I originally bought this jacket for my sister for her Birthday. My Mom was so impressed with the jacket that I had to get one for her Birthday! She has many cold issues, so this jacket is perfect for her. I got her the Blue River color to match her blue eyes.

Very warm and comfy. The only complaint I have is that I ordered a medium even though on the size chart it suggested a small, It is a tad to short in the arms and not as long as I would like it to be, but way too much space around the middle. Never good when you are in the snow bend over to make a snow ball and get a big rush of cold air up your back. That is the only reason for not giving the full 5 stars. Other than that Great coat!

This jacket is incredibly warm and still fairly stylish for a puffy down jacket. It has a flattering cut that doesn't make you look like the marshmellow man from Ghost Busters. I would say it runs pretty large, I got the XS and usually I would wear a Small or Medium in other jackets. Also think the sleeves are a bit short. Removable hood is a nice feature. Overall a great winter coat.

I originally purchased 2 other jackets this year before I found this one. The first one was a North Face which ended up LOOKING fantastic on, but had some other problems. The 2nd one was the Sub Zero Jacket- which (I'm not too picky- just want lots of warmth) looked TERRIBLE on me. So I opted to try this one. I just got it today. Tried it on immediatley with a sweatshirt on since that's what I'm wearing. It fit great. Not TOO big and certaintly not too small. Feels like it's gonna be warm- and IS totally snuggly as previously mentioned by other reviewers. Does run big. I am 5'5", approx 130 pounds- normally wear a medium in everything else- including the Mountain Hardware Sub Zero JACKET- but the small with this parka gives me just enough room WITH a sweatshirt on. Goes to (my)mid-butt. I'm excited I found this jacket!!
