Mountain Hardwear Phantom Down Jacket - Men's
The Mountain Hardwear Men's Phantom Down Jacket is an ultralight, incredibly compressible furnace for your backcountry forays. At just over a pound, you'll barely notice this super warm coat in your pack. If you've skinned up twice as fast as your companions, you don't want to be rewarded for your fitness with frostbite, so don the 800-fill down Phantom Jacket and loiter with your hands ensconced in fleece-lined goodness until your hungover buddies make it up the hill. Stow the Phantom, arc a set of perfect turns, skin back up, and repeat.
Bottom Line: Featherweight, compressible, oven-warm, and did we mention fleece-lined handwarmer pockets?

So I noticed this thing doesn't have the Conduit SL laminate of its more expensive cousins. How does this deal with wet stuff?

This is NOT for "the wet stuff". This is for the "crazy ass cold" stuff.
You definitely would want a shell for more than a medium amount of snowfall for an extended period of time.

Yep. The face fabric of the jacket has been updated. It is an extremely light weight (and more breathable!) 15D nylon that has been calendared for down proof-ness. It is super light and in conjunction with 800 fill down... extremely warm. Enjoy!

Is the Phantom as warm as MH's Sub-Zero Jacket?

Tough question as warmth is so subjective... but, YES. It is as warm I would say as the Sub Zero Jacket. The Phantom is a lot lighter weight and maybe not as durable but the warmth is similar. If you want a REALLY WARM jacket... check out the Sub Zero SL Hooded Jacket from Hardwear. It is actually constructed like a sleeping bag... Baffles and all!
