Mountain Hardwear Downtown Vest - Women's
The Mountain Hardwear Women's Downtown Vest insulates with 650-fill goose down, keeping you toasty in frigid conditions without steaming you like a lobster when the sun comes out. Layer a waterproof shell easily over this form-fitting vest for core warmth on ski days. A Yeti fleece lining adds an element of coziness the Abominable Snow Woman herself would envy, and wavy stitching gives the Downtown Vest unique style at the lodge. Stash this puffy vest in its included stuff sack for compact storage in your winter pack.
Bottom Line: Get downtown style and backcountry warmth with this Mountain Hardwear vest.

Like all the reviews say, yes, this vest is super cute and the cut is flattering but listen to those of us who are saying that the arm holes are just way too tight. If you have any intention of layering more than a t-shirt and want the vest to fit perfect..guess what? The arms are strangling! I'm pretty small and originally bought an xs. The fit was absolutely perfect except for the strangling arm holes. I went ahead and exchanged it for a sm and now the shoulders fall over my shoulders. Whoever thought of those cinched armpits should be fired! Sorry to say, I'm exchanging again and going for another brand.

Bought this for my wife and she loves it. The fit of the vest is perfect and she told me it keeps her nice and warm just the way she likes it and I can say it looks great.

After an extensive and disappointing search of vests from The North Face, I realized that they don't make down vests for women that have a larger chest. Then I started searching your site and found the Mountain Hardware down vest. I was pleased how well it fit me in the chest and waist. There is also a soft grey liner. The vest has 650 fill and it is perfect with a turtleneck for ice skating or in and out of stores. I highly recommend it.

The design is nice and slim. It is best to buy one size up as the arm holes are quite tight. I had to return and change for a bigger size in order to feel comfortable.

The inside fleece lining on top of all that goose down keeps me toasty warm even on frosty mornings. And the low profile non-bulky fit is perfect under my softshell when the temperature drops more. I was at first concerned that the arm holes were a bit snug, but they're flexible and the tighter fit makes sense to keep all the warm air inside. You will not be disappointed with this vest.

Looking for a down vest that fits close to the body for more efficient warmth, I picked this one for it's feminine cut and cozy fleece lining. The length comes to the hips, which I think is just right for warmth and to balance the puffy look of down. I wear a Small to Medium usually, (I'm a 34A) and I went for the Small here because I planned to wear the vest over a t-shirt-weight layer. It works like this, but it's definitely too small to wear over a sweater. Size up if you want to wear more layers underneath. Also, the arm holes are really small, which keeps the warmth in, but they also feel a bit tight, so keep that in mind if you're between sizes. It's more of a cute style-y vest than a technical mountaineering piece. All in all, I find it a very flattering and functional piece.

I really liked the color and the fabric but the armholes were way too small. They are sort of gathered, I guess to keep the warmth in. Could have tried the small instead of the XS but decided to try a different vest instead.

I got this vest for my wife's birthday, and was a little leery about not being able to see it in person first. My worry turned out to be unfounded--she loved it. Extremely warm without being puffy, it has a nice cut and she loves the fleece inside the pockets. A good buy!

This is one of my most favourite outfits to wear on a cold windy day. It is very very warm and extremely light- weight. Go get it - it's the best!

this vest is a great piece of gear...light, technically simple, yet sophisticated...very complimentary to the feminine structure.
sizing was a bit difficult to figure out. after an exchange for a larger size, we were completely satisfied...unless your lady is petite stay away from the small due to the form fitting character of this garment.

This is, by far, the best vest I have ever owned. It definitely keeps me warm, over a sweater/fleece or even just a long-sleeve Tshirt some days. This is the real deal - very warm, light, fits good, looks good. I have the pink one & the black one - wish I didn't have 6 other vests in my closet that I never wear.

Though the marshmallow look of down can never be completely avoided, this vest is as close to marshmallow-free as you can get. Don't get me wrong - it's puffy, but it won't make you look like a line backer, as did several other vests that I tried. Unlike other Mountain Hardware products that seem to be purposely cropped, the length of the small is perfect (I'm 5'5"). Plus, this the only vest that I could find that comes in gray, which goes with everything. Not surprisingly, it's very warm. A great product.

I agree that the shape of the jacket was flattering, but the small was way too big.

The fact that I've ordered (and returned) 2 down vests, including The North Face Nupste and The North Face Allure vests, showcases my "slightly selective" nature. I know EXACTLY what I want, usually long before I find it. I'm happy to say that this vest was exactly what I wanted. (1) Attractive, feminine cut (2) HIGHLY durable (as in, LIFETIME durability) (3) HIGHLY functional (enough down fill to keep a very shivery Maine girl warm in everyday winter conditions). While The North Face vests were defnitely top notch, they simply did not offer a flattering fit at the same time (XS was too big for me).
