Mountain Hardwear Lightspeed Mittens

The Mountain Hardwear Lightspeed Mittens give your hands full weatherproof protection for the most harebrained mountain adventures. Waterproof breathable Conduit shells seal out snow and moisture, and a windproof fleece liner insulates in polar temperatures. Excellent for alpine and ice climbing, the Lightspeed gloves feature a waterproof, durable Hex Grip palm and thumb that won't shy away from rappels. Wear the fleece liner mitt alone when you don't need the fully welded and seam taped shell mitt. The liner also has a grippy palm patch and thumb—'cause holding onto stuff can come in handy.

Bottom Line: If the backcountry is cold, wet, and windy, fight back with Mountain Hardwear's Lightspeed Mittens.

Great idea poorly made

Lightweight, breathable, warm, BUT seams started separating on second day of normal alpine use. Obviously being made in a factory that uses the cheapest glues and has no quality control. I know that MH is a big company with lots of responsibilities but their reputation has suffered big time in my eyes because of this quality issue. Will think twice in future....

hmmm

Initially I was stoked with the new lightspeed mitties! They kept my hands warm while digging in the snow with the wind howling by. After two or three days of use however I must adjust my level of enthusiasm. The seam between the rubberized palms and the textile area on the sides has cracked open in several places, leaving it permeable for moisture. The fleece inners however are genius. Warm, with clever rubber patches on index/thumb/palm areas that increases grip. Summed up I'll give them a nod for warmth and a shake for build quality.

Warm hands!

I've finally got my finger out and bought a pair of mittens and these didn't let me down on the first day of use. Cold as hell, digging a backcountrykicker, which means being in the nice white stuff a lot. My hands had a great time! (I did too)

Super toasty

These things baked my hands. Can't believe something this thin can keep my hands this warm. Used while skiing and I had to take them off on the lift to keep my hands from melting.

I have the gloves but i assume these seams aren't taped any better.

I bought the gloves and after 1 use on the mountain some of the "welded" seams are tearing. I plan to send them in to Mountain Hardwear to get them repaired/refunded. I would, however, highly recommend the Mountain Hardwear company because they are owned by one of my hometown companies!! and the staff is very friendly. A great idea, but it still needs some "patching up"
