Mountain Hardwear Ultralamina 15 Women's Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Synthetic

Go superlight into the backcountry with the new Mountain Hardwear Women's Ultralamina 15 Synthetic Sleeping Bag. The Ultralamina 15 features Mountain Hardwear's Thermic Micro insulation. This high-loft insulation holds in your body heat to keep you toasty in cool weather. This DWR-coated sleeping bag stays warm even when it gets wet, which a down bag doesn't. Thermic Micro is also extremely compressible and durable, so it can tolerate continual stuffings and washings. To save weight and further improve durability, Mountain Hardwear welded the insulation to the inside of the bag to eliminate baffles. Plus, partial zippers on both sides also decrease the ounces you have to carry.

Bottom Line: For three-season comfort, pack the Mountain Hardwear Ultralamina 15 Sleeping Bag into the backcountry.

Warm, Comfortable Bag. Worth the Money

By:

I'm a three season backpacker and have used this sleeping bag for two full seasons. This is a great bag. It's on the higher end of pricing for a synthetic bag but it's warmer than some down bags that I've been in and just as comfortable. I haven't gone winter camping but would have no reservations with taking this bag. As others have stated, the half zips are great for reading, cooking, venting, etc. but if you like to stick your feet out at night then you may feel claustrophobic in this bag. Pros: -Lightweight -Compresses into SMALL stuff sack which is great for backpackers -More shoulder girth compared to majority of women's bags which helps to not feel so constrained -Minimal snaging from zipper! Extra lining along zipper make it easy to zip/unzip from inside without snagging preventing tearing -Maintains loft well even after a winter in the storage sack -Open foot box to not make your feet and legs feels so cramped Cons: -Higher price. Find it on sale. -Non full zip (if you like the full length) -No sleeping pad straps -No internal pocket to make a pillow (I'm really just digging for cons at this point) Bottom Line: You can't go wrong with this bag. If you can find it on sale get it. You'll be hard pressed to find another synthetic bag that will keep you this warm and comfortable.

The womens bags have overall smaller dimensions than the mens with the same amount of insulation. This is the main difference.

Keeps me nice and toasty. I'm not sure if I'm going to wish it unzipped further. Only time will tell, I guess.

If I'm almost exactly 5'10" (technically, I'm about 5'9 3/4"), will the long bag really work for me? I'd definitely prefer a women's bag if possible, but I don't want it to be too short!

Womens bags are regular 5.6 feet so you would want a long - 6.0 feet. Mens bags in regular are 6.0 feet.

Nice and toasty sack with cool features. Light and compact is important and this passed the test. Excellent value and performance. Could use a bit more waterproofing.
