Mountain Hardwear used its new Crosshub pole structure in the Viperine 2 two-person, three-season tent. This unique pole structure means that one pole holds up the whole Viperine 2 Tent. The payoff? I purchased this tent before heading out to Idaho for two weeks along the Salmon River. We got rained on starting at Devils tower, Wyoming and it didn't really stop until we got back to Michigan. I never had a drop of water in this tent the whole time. The construction is solid and the vestibule is quite sizable. Set up is super easy and quick thanks to the innovative single pole design. However, this tent is a little on the small side for two people. Before my trip to Idaho, I had to share this tent with someone for a night. Its do-able, but you had better be good friends with the person you're splitting this tent with because it is a little tight. The bivy style design seems like it would hold up to strong winds well, but compromises on head room except at the very front of the tent. All things considered however, this tent is an excellent product; and one you can be assured will keep you dry in serious weather.

It's bombproof in the wet weather, doesn't weigh a whole lot, and it won't be cold at all where you're headed. You should be a-okay in this one.

Bought two of these tents and took them backpacking up Mt. Inyu for two days after Thanksgiving. The first night rained hard, yet we were completely dry. Had to stow the tents wet to press on for the next leg. Set up camp about 3pm, and both tents dried within an hour due to the great ventilation. Second night we had to pitch on the trail due to no suitable clearings. The small footprint worked out great for that situation. That night the winds were blowing at 35 knots. Tents stood rigid against the wind. We were so warm inside the tents, we had to unzip the bags. All I can say is it is an excellent tent and well worth the money. OUTSTANDING design and engineering.
