Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Women's - 2007
Experience a warm winter despite the frigid conditions when you zip up the 650-fill Mountain Hardwear Women's Sub Zero Down Jacket. This jacket keeps you as warm as your winter sleeping bag, but its feminine cut looks flattering, not bulbous. The Sub Zero's polyester Z-Rip fabric resists tears and sheds light snow. Stuff you're hands into the fleece-lined pockets to keep them nice and toasty around base camp, and pull the one-handed hem and lower back drawcords to seal out the cold on a freezing alpine night. This backcountry puffy comes with its own stuff sack for packing ease.
Bottom Line: In town or at basecamp, the Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Jacket will warp your perception of winter.

since it hasn't gotten too cold here yet, I haven't really put my coat to the test. But i do live in a bsaement and hate to turn the heat on, so my jacket does keep me toasty warm while studying or watching a movie. I love the fit for a petite female. the inside sinch cord is a huge bonus too! looking forward to living in it this winter!

I recently purchased the sub zero and am very happy. It's very comforable and lighweight. My only complaint is that it's a bit short in the length and I'm only 5'3, otherwise, it's great!
I'm 5'2". Does anyone know if an XS would fit? (assuming
I'm 5'2". Does anyone know if an XS would fit? (assuming my arms are about 31") Would the sleeves be too short?

I've had this jacket since 2003. Nothing else has been good enough to replace it. It has held up well - no tears or down leakage to speak of. I think the cut is great and I have no problem with arms or length being too short. I'm 5'6 and wear a small. Initially the arms are a little short because there's down under your arm pits that puffs the sleeves up, but over a little time, it shifts a little to the right places (never compromising warmth though), and the arms are the perfect length. I've worn this jacket in the really cold temps and been toasty - and I also wear it in spring and fall, summer camping evenings, and feel like it works well in cold as well as just a little chilly. It is NOT a long coat - which is great for climbing, backpacking, etc. I also wear it as my city coat and don't get cold - unless I'm low-riding and showing some skin - and that's my own dang fault. The shorter cut is flattering though. I wouldn't want it any longer.
Hi, How does the sizing on this jacket run?
Hi, How does the sizing on this jacket run?
I've got a friend who has this in a small - she's about 5'10", has long arms and is thin. Fits her great - doesn't seem to be short in the arms or torso.

I bought this for my girlfriend for Christmas. She loves it and it fits great. She is particularly fond of the fleece lined pockets. I was impressed when it arrived. I might have to get one for myself.

Bought an XS for my wife but it was too small. So, my 11 year old daughter ended up with it. Fits her very well and should last her quite a few years. It is very well made, warm and has handy pockets. Just fits a little small.

I returned this coat, because i did not like it at all. The length was to short and the fit was totally unflattering.

This is the best jacket I have ever owned. It is really warm and has a ton of pockets, plus the color is really beautiful and I have gotten tons of compliments. Definitely recommend for cold weather.

The jacket was great and is very warm. I did have to order a smaller size for my daughter. The best part of this experience was the service given by your company. Great bunch of guys. They all deserve raises! I would say this is one of the best companies I've ever dealt with.

This is a great jacket - very warm and I love that it has a stuff sack to convert it to a pillow! I ordered a size larger, based on reviews and it's a good thing. The sleeves are just barely long enough, even though the wrists aren't as tight as I'd like, even with adjustment. Fit in body is still ok with a sweater underneath.
Nice, but....

I tried both the jacket and the parka. Both were warm, but I did not keep the jacket because it was too short in the rear. The green jacket color was great, but I eventually settled for a dark blue sub zero parka. I think it will fit my needs for winter mountaineering.

This is a great jacket, it's really warm and the color is great. Runs a little big, had to order a smaller size after originally ordering the medium. It has lots of pockets and isn't too big and bulky.

I bought a VERY expensive North Face Jacket and froze most of the winter until I got this one. So soft, warm and roomy. I love the stuff sac too - it packs down easily for camping and travel.

Great coat - so warm! Just endured an outdoor concert in negative temperatures and never froze like so many around me! Typical of Mountain Hardware - great quality!

I haven't been able to test this jacket out yet seeing as it is not winter but its great quality wise and I can feel the warmth! lol. If you need a down jacket I think this one is as good as any, maybe better.
Great jacket!

I've had this jacket for over a year now and it is great. Keeps me warm without the bulk. I have a long torso and this jacket still comes down to my hip bones. It has gotten snagged in a couple places, but otherwise it has held up great!

I've had my new jacket a few weeks now, and have to say that I'm really pleased with it's functionality and the attention to detail that Mountain Hardware has invested in a women's design. So often, it's apparent the women's version of some clothing item or another is a stripped down, simplified version of the men's style, but not here! Features I appreciate are the fleece-lined hand warmer pockets, the drawstrings at the waist as well as the bottom, and the heavier-duty fabric on the sleeves and shoulders. Oh, and is it warm?
You bet!!
Keeping warm

I love this jacket. Keeps me warm on the cold days when skiing with little people.
However, it's a bit short in the waist line. Be careful bending over or sitting down, you may catch a cold breeze.
The Best Service Ever

Just like to thank this site for one of the most pleasant shopping experiences that I have ever had, I am an international customer who buys a lot of things online from many sites and if even one of the other places had a percentage of this site's customer support and commitment I would be happy. Life can throw out all sorts of problems, no matter how hard we try, but if you are unlucky enough to not have something be the way you wanted it, you can be certain that these guys will do all within any one's power to leave you the customer feeling satisfied. 100% Recommend to anyone from anywhere.
This Jacket Seduced Me

This jacket made me fall in love with it, almost against my will. I was hoping the cut would be a little more form-fitting and dressy, and it's puffier than I wanted.
But dang it, every time I put this jacket on, it literally makes me happy. It keeps me so toasty warm, I feel like my torso is still sitting in my living room, while the rest of me is out in the cold and snow!
I have to disagree with some of the other reviewers who said it's a little short in length and the sleeves. I am 5'5" and bought a women's size medium and it fits just fine in both the torso and sleeve length. (But I'm older and don't wear the pants with my booty hanging out the back so maybe that's got something to do with it.)
Two features I love are the drawstring at the bottom of the jacket to seal out drafts and the adjustable wrist straps that are so well-designed you can adjust them with your gloves ON.
Like wearing a sleeping bag

I love this jacket, but can't find one that fits just right. It's super warm, very lofty, and comfortable. I typically wear a size 10 on top, and the small was pretty roomy considering. I tried the XS and it fit well in the body, but was too short in the sleeves and a bit short in the torso. All in all, this jacket is tough and ideal for low temps, but not very flattering if that's your main concern.

This seems like a good jacket. I have not needed it yet because this winter is very mild. I'm excited to use it when I need it. It has kept me warm in 20 degree weather but I want to test this jacket and I will when I lead trip this next fall/winter

This women's Sub Zero jacket is perfect for any cold weather trips. It packs down very small into a stuff sack...which is included.
This is the warmest jacket I have ever owned.
