Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket - Women's
The Mountain Hardwear Women's Epic Jacket is an ultra-lightweight outer shell loaded with technical features to keep you warm and dry. Mountain Hardwear built the Epic with durable ripstop nylon coupled with soft, supple stretch nylon creating a soft feel for a waterproof jacket. As a stand-alone or as an extra layer, the Epic is a highly breathable barrier to the elements. The Epic has a one-handed darwcord hem, ergonomic hood, and brim drawcords so you can quickly cinch up when the weather turns ugly. You'll enjoy the Epic's uninhibited freedom of movement thanks to Mountain Hardwear's waterproof and remarkably comfortable stretch panel construction.
Bottom Line: The Mountain Hardwear Women's Epic Jacket takes outerwear to record proportions.

It's great! i also can wear this over my hydration pack without any tugs when it's pouring. got the vivid green easy to spot me very far when i am hiking especially late in the evening and easy to roll up to tuck it away.

OK, I don't need a rainjacket for extreme outdoor exertion. I just need one that is comfortable, performs well, and looks good while I travel all over Europe next month. After spending the last week in rainy windy Chicago with out of town guests this week, I can tell I have exactly the right jacket! Perfect!

keeps me dry and actually pretty warm which is great where i live, but the pit zips allow for cooling...i got a medium for layering, but if that's not something you need to worry about try a smaller size than usual because with no layers this fits like a large.
i'm out in the field a lot for school and work, and so far it's been very rain PROOF!
my roommate borrowed it and now she's getting one.

This is a great rain jacket. It keeps moisture out perfectly and keeps you semi-warm at the same time.

I usually really enjoy using Mountain Hardware gear...and clothing...
But.. My Epic jacket is not waterproof AT ALL!!! I have given the jacket the benefit of the doubt and used it numerous times in rainy and snowy elements...and EVERY time I am glad I have a fleece on underneath it-because it is SOAKED on the INSIDE!!!
Wow...I thought this rain jacket would really work well...guess not.
I will NEVER buy this brand of raingear again.

I just received my Epic jacket and I am returning it immediately. The description of this jacket says nothing about the construction in the armpits. Zippers extending from the elbow to mid-torso make for a very uncomfortable fit. Two other reviewers were right. Color (Crimson) was great, though!

Ordered the Epic Mountain Hardware
Rain Jacket for my grand daughter, a 3rd
year university student. When her Christmas Gift arrived, I wanted to keep it, and her Aunt wanted one also. Only
problem was I had just ordered the last one. What an amazing Jacket. So many
features, and so soft. She loved it! Three of us wanted it! Pleased in Florida
and Tennessee!

I just got my new rain shell for biking and horseback riding. I really like the red color and how small it can pack (folds up to fit in my CamelBak perfectly). Keeps me dry and cool on the inside. The only thing I would advise is that it seems to run big. I ordered a size 6 Mountain Hardwear soft shell this winter, and it fit perfectly, but I'm sort of swimming in the medium of this jacket. It's nice to be able to layer, but I could fit about four of my boyfriend's fleeces under this. Otherwise a great product though. Would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay dry inside and out (and not spend a boat load).

I bought this here because it was a great deal, as so much of their stuff is. It was exactly as described, and the red onion color was unique and really pretty. However, I ordered a size large (I'm about 5'10 and 170 pounds) and it was way too big for me! Too bad they had sold out of the medium by the time I realized this.

I would have to agree with kmiloh about the bunching. Other features (sleeve pocket, design of hood, etc) are good though. But because of the bunching, I am going to have to return this. Hopefully, the Marmot Precip will fit me better.

I bought this jacket when it was on steep and cheap and got a great deal on it. The sizing was a bit weird though compared to other mountain hardwear jackets I've bought and I to exchange it for a smaller size. Otherwise though, it fits great and is light and compactable. I recently wore it in North Carolina on a rainy camping trip and it held up okay. I think it's better for lighter rain scenarios. Overall though I am happy with it.

I disagree with the previous poster. The fit of this jacket is not comfortable and the shape is strange. The armpits are too roomy so there's all this extra fabric bunching up, and the jacket isn't even t-shaped when you lay it down. (It's like this jacket was designed for someone whose armpit begins below the breast and goes to the elbow, if you can imagine.) Also, the pitzips are covered by a hard zipper cover, just like the brim. I found this very uncomfortable. Not to mention the purple on the website looks nice and dark but in actually resembles Easter purple. I will return this jacket. I've already gotten a Marmot PreCip which fits much better, doesn't have uncomfortable pitzips, and comes in better colors.

This jacket is fantastically designed. Mountain Hardwear thought of everything. The jacket is very lightweight. It has taped seams, mesh pockets, soft patch that goes against your face when zipped all the way up, cinches at the wrist and a stiffened brim so you can still see where you at going when you have the hood cinched down.

A great jacket for anything from trips to the supermarket to backpacking through Europe. Lightweight yet cozy, the Epic Jacket keeps all the moisture out without feeling like you're wearing a plastic tarp. Arm pocket is handy, especially if you lose things often or want to keep something super safe. Very packable even though it doesn't fold into itself.
