Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero Mitt

The Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero Mitt is made for the coldest, most unforgiving environments on Earth. The 3-layer waterproof/breathable Conduit shell is packed with synthetic PrimaLoft insulation. If they can't keep your hands warm while belaying on an exposed ridge, or while camping north of the Arctic Circle, nothing can. The Absolute Zero Mitt has a removable PrimaLoft insulated insert with a Conduit shell. That means it'll be easier to dry your mittens at base camp, and you'll be able to ditch the big shells if things warm up. The gauntlets are large enough to fit over bulky sleeves, and they're designed for easy one-handed adjustment.

Bottom Line: The warmest gloves for the coldest places.

the reviews are TRUE!

i'm sold! totally sold. i bought these mitts in a size smaller than normal (xs) per the reviews, and they were spot on. a little bit short in the finger, but any bigger would've been too big everywhere else. I used them during a recent glacier climb in bolivia and can say that for the first time EVER, i didn't have to shake my hands warm even once! I highly recommend these, even for the crazy price.

Awesome mitt

By:

This is a great mitt. So warm and I love the way it comes up higher so it covers the end of your sleeve. It's much easier than putting the sleeve over the glove. I'm not sure why more gloves and mitts are made this way.

good design

I bought these for skiing - I always have cold hands and was hoping they'd help. The long gaiters on the wrists do help keep the wind out - and they're thoughtfully built to be able to adjust easily. They're a little bit bulky to deal with ski pole straps, but not too bad. And so far they seem well built and durable. Unfortunately, my hands still get cold. They do accommodate disposable heater packs nicely though, so they're working fine. I think I have Reynauds syndrome causing my cold hand problems though, so I think these would be VERY warm for the average person.

No more cold hands!

By:
December 17, 2006

No matter how sunny it is, for some reason I always get cold hands while skiing (especially on the lifts). I bought these for skiing and winter backcountry tours and haven't been disappointed in any way. They are a bit bulky, but that's a small price to pay for toasty hands. The PrimaLoft inner mitts are very soft & quick drying. The outer Conduit layer cuts the elements & prevents any wind or precipitation from getting through. I also love the powder cuff - no more snow up my sleeves or fumbling to tuck my gloves under my jacket. The inner mitts easily hook in/out of the outer mitts and the outer mitts can be used with a different, lighter glove on warmer days.

BEST MITTS FOR MY HUSBAND!

By:
December 12, 2006

I bought these mitts for my husband who is handicap, and the cold weather really gets to his hands. Before his accident my husband was a big outdoors person from hunting everything to working on a golf course. After the accident he cold not do much being paralyzed but wanted to stay active. So hunting was his way. He would go out and come in early because of his hands getting cold. Now he stays out the whole time. It is a blessing because it makes him feel normal and forgets that he can’t walk. The other thing about the mitts is that they are mitts and not gloves. His fingers curl and are not straight. Thank you thank you.

Stopped the complaining

By:

I have a 13-year-old who wears the Guide Gloves. Hates cold hands and stops skiing early when it happens. These gloves have stopped the complaints at the worst temperatures. No issues after hours outside. ad some difficult with ski pole grip, but remedied with larger hand grip section.

Absolutely the warmest mitts!

By:
February 8, 2006

I got these mitts in time for a snowshoeing trip in Yellowstone. Most days, they were so warm; I had to use only the inner layer. I’m on a search & rescue team in Santa Fe and have been looking for something warm for my hands on late night missions in the mountains. These fit the bill without a doubt!
