excellent gaiters

I am using them on a CDT thru-hike and I have been having great luck with these gaiters. The cord that comes with them is a good design but isn't practical for long-term. I typically replace the straps every 2-3 days and the original cord setup is complicated. I stripped them of the elastic cord, cordlock and lace hook and replace it all with 4mill cord as a stirrup strap and couldn't be happier.

Good performance for the price.

I used these gaiters for a very rugged 50 mile hike across the Washington State shoreline. It kept sand and rocks out of my boots the whole week. Simple to put on. At the beginning of the hike, I had to snug up the the under-the-heel strap pretty tight to keep it in place, but once this was adjusted, I had no problem with the fit. Great backpacking piece of gear!

Great For Trail Running In Snow

By: (4)
February 10, 2008

These work great for trail running in the snow. I can tuck my running pants into the top of the gaiter - my non Gore Tex shoes stay mostly dry, no snow gets in my shoes, and my ankles/shins stay warm and dry. I had to cinch the below-the-foot strap real tight to keep the heel part over the shoe, but now it works. These are sized way too big - I went with the S/M for my 10 1/2 shoes.

trail gaiter

I sent these back - they looked like nice gaiters, very well constructed and nice material but fit on the shoe very weird. Its hard to describe but the heel part on the gaiter was so minimal that the strap that goes under the instep wouldn't fit right - it either went under the heel (where it would wear out quickly) or had to pulled at a severe angle to get to the instep. I bought a large for my husband and they didn't fit him and they really didn't fit my shoe either.

Good product but...

The gaiters are just what I needed for keeping stones out of my hiking boots. However, I had to restitch one of them, as it had been sewn incorrectly and didn't lie flat on the boot where the strap is attached.

Great Gaiter

I used my new Trail Gaiters this weekend on a 25K that included an hour of very heavy rain. The Gaiters performed as expected. I will use them each time I am on the trails. Highly recommended.

Gaiter remedies - try simple electrical hardware

By: (1)
March 17, 2007

I’ve had my gaiters for 3 years now (ab)used in the rain, mud, ice, and snow. Encountered most of the problems mentioned in prior reviews. Yes, elastic bands do fail. Fix: Use grass trimmer string instead of elastic – cut length to allow snug slip-on/fit. Toss original black plastic end (keep “adjuster” - press string into it) and use a small (yellow) wire nut to tie ends. Tuck under gaiter. Torn laces? Fix: Use a plastic cable tie strap. Make a small loop placed where shoes laces first cross nearest your toes. Hook gaiter to tie strap.

Gaiter You Need !!!!

By: (2)
February 17, 2007

These gaiters are awesome they work exactly like there supposed to. You can rest assure that you wont get snow or rocks in your shoes. If you are a trail runner you need these. The only problem I see in the future is the elastic strap that runs under your shoe could wear out but so far no problems.

Trail Gaiter

Great for keeping invaders out of your boots and socks. I haven't used them in the rain yet, but I think they'll be fine. I wear a size 11 Men’s 8-inch boot and bought a medium gaiter, should have bought the large, I think.

158 miles in the Gobi Desert

We received many favorable comments from the seasoned ultra marathon runners who have tried all brands. These gaiters are slightly more heavy duty than most and the closure enables a sure fit. Apparently the straps on most gaiters wear out and this pair was no exceptions. In their defense, we were running through rocky stream beds for the better part of a day. After 40 miles the hook wore through my laces. Both challenges were remedied with a little duct tape.
