Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Mens

The Mountain Hardwear made the Men's Canyon Shirt out of Superlight Desert Cloth, which has a strong weave, wicking finish, and a UPF 30 rating. A back mesh vent and mesh side panels keep you from overheating during your hikes, and tabs secure your sleeves when the heat of the day demands roll-up action. The Canyon Shirt's flip-up collar protects your neck from the mid-day sun, and zipper chest pockets hold a car key and cash.

Bottom Line: Stay cool and sunburn-free with the Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt.

Great Shirts

I'm a big fan of this shirt, and have two of them I wear all the time. The pussywillow suffers from an unfortunate name, but is just a light grey. I am 5'10 180 and the medium fits me well, just a touch loose.

Is the color "Pussywillow" white?

Is the color "Pussywillow" white?

Flag

Pussy willow is a name given to many of the smaller species of the genus Salix (willows and sallows) when their furry catkins are young in early spring (wikipedia). The color of the pussy willow is white, so yes, the color of the shirt is white.

These shirts are the Bees Knees!

Pack it up, Pack it in, Let me begin, to not review this shirt, you know, would be a sin. I have worn many technical shirts in "difficult" terrain and this shirt, my friends, is one of the better offerings from a company that knows its stuff. I love the vents and build quality is top knotch. My only gripe, not "Made in USA". Buy one, you will not be disappointed and chicks like em too cause' they think I am some kinda Mountain summit dude. Hats off to this site's staff for great Customer Service. Kind Regards. "From the Desert."

A great product

Think that the best way to stay cool in the desert is to strip down to bare skin? I did. Luckily we sometimes get smarter with age. Staying shaded from the sun in this shirt is counter-intuitive, but affective for staying cool. An added bonus is that you don't BBQ your stupid self while trekking around half-nekked. Mountain Hardwear has carried this piece for a number of years because it works. The fabric is light, comfortable and durable. The venting does a marvelous job of moving sweat off of you - kind of like built in evaporative cooling. I would recommend the light color, as reflecting sun is good too. "Pussywillow" will not depreciate your manliness (you don't even have to tell anyone what color it is, you can just say "gray")

Great desert shirt

I wore this shirt for a week floating down the San Juan river in southern Utah, and it performed flawlessly. Kept the sun off, and kept me cool when the sun was out, thanks to the great venting. My dad has the same shirt, and likes it for desert climates as well, but doesn't like it at all for humidity, he prefers the Ex Officio line for the humid climates.

Hard to beat!

Title says it all, fantastic design, lightweight, durable, well ventilated, and just generally easy to wear. The buttons take a few uses to "break in" but otherwise, this is a fantastic shirt, and my new full-time hiking shirt.

Great Shirt

I bought two of these, one in short sleeve and one in long sleeve, for a trip to SE Asia last summer (July). It was hot & humid there and both shirts were really comfortable to wear! I especially like the long sleeve version because it was more versatile, allowing me the freedom of long sleeve for a somewhat formal ceremony and the short sleeve for general travel wear. At the time of purchasing these shirts, I tried on TNF travel shirts at a similar price point and was unimpressed with those TNF shirts. The MH fit was better (more athletic cut) whereas TNF shirts seemed "sloppy." All in all, I am extremely happy with these MH shirts and am returning to buy two more!

Greatest shirt of all time

This is my go to shirt for any kind of aerobic activity in any weather, if it gets wet it dries faster than any other garment I own. If its hot there are vents galore and a hip sunblocking collar. If its cold a long sleeve worn underneath blocks up all the vents. I own two of these shirts and plan on buying more.

Well-made shirt with some design deficiencies

Very nice fabric, and great attention to detail in construction. But, the roll-up sleeve tabs are set WAY too high to be useful. And there's no place to put your sunglasses other than tucking them into the voluminous Napoloen pocket. Bottom line: I'm keeping it, but I won't be buying another.

Great Hiking Shirt

By: Bob Nace(1)
August 7, 2005

While very expensive (for a hiking shirt), the vents are on the sides (vs. across the back on another shirt I got at half the price), so it's much more effective when wearing a backpack.

Good shirt

A very good shirt but not an especially good value (hard to justify such a high price for a shirt, but all camping gear is expensive.) It has the features I wanted other than closeable vents. Very comfortable.

The shirt to end all shirts

I've had this shirt for about a month now, and I've worn it in some of the hottest conditions imaginable. The shirt held up great, and helped me do the same. So far, it's been very durable and shows no signs of wear or tear. If you're looking for a technical shirt that helps keep you cool in the blistering heat and looks good at the same time, this is it.
