Merrell Overdrive Trail Running Shoe - Men's

When you race up a mountain trail, your feet find surprises at every turn. The Merrell Men's Overdrive Trail Running Shoes prepare you for what the terrain has in store. TheTrailSpring design features tubes and bisecting support beams in a full-length TPU plate. This complex construction inhibits overpronation and cushions heel-strike. The Trail Balanced last with arch bridge stabilizes your heel and frees your forefoot for effortless toe-off. The Overdrive's airmesh upper begins draining immediately after stream-crossing, and its Vibram Full Speed II sole has flex grooves for extra propulsion at the forefoot. Merrell added a triple-density, shock-absorbent EVA midsole to this men's shoe.

Bottom Line: Blaze trail in the Merrell Overdrive Trail Running Shoes.

Not bad, but not great

The Good They are super-light and feel great once you wear them in, (it took me about a few weeks of hard running before they felt right.) No blisters! I have never had a blister with these runners. I have taken them up mountains and through many ups and downs. Also, they work well for running on the road. The Bad I have had my shoes for about 6 months and they have not held up very well. I do wear them a whole bunch, but I already had to superglue the tread back on my shoes and the tread itself has been worn very low. They don't dry out fast at all and just a little bit of water will soak them through. (not very cool when you are on the A.T. and a storm hits.) My gaiters did not help when it came to the rain even. All around they are good for what they are, but I would not recommend them on any hike over a few days or you could lose your toes to frostbite or rot.

Good traction...

These shoes had great traction. I haven't had any problem with them slipping on hard frozen ground or wet slick rock, they even seem to do well in loose sand. However I feel that they were very poorly constructed and aren't holding up well. (I run around 50 miles a week (between trail and road) )They got a crease in the front in the first two days of wear which digs into my toe and I have only been able to bare 50 or so miles on them as of late. Also they are terrible on the road (hurt my feet even with superfeet insoles after just three miles) as you would expect of any true trail shoe unless of course you are walking which they seem to do just fine for...

Great summer trail running shoes

My wife and I both got these, and love them. Very lightweight, comfortable (can't beat the mesh), and easy to put them on. Merrell included regular shoe lace, but the Kevlar lace works really good and never needed to replace them. I ran about 2 miles on the paved road, and I felt good, though I can tell these are really Trail running shoes and not really intended for the paved road. My wife said they also work good with jeans (that's a fashion statement, I think) Overall we are happy with these.
