Maui Jim Typhoon Sunglasses - Polarized

The Maui Jim® Typhoon Sunglasses are sure to take you by storm with their smart looks and sporty wrap frame protection. A best-selling frame since its introduction in 1994, Typhoon is a popular sports frame with great coverage and a versatile fit. The high-quality lens combines PolarizedPlus® Technology and optically correct, distortion free vision with a carefully crafted frame. A polarized lens' primary function is to reduce glare—that is, light reflected from a flat surface which greatly diminishes color and contrast. A body of water, a windshield, and even an asphalt road are all notorious producers of polarized light. Polarized lenses are most useful when trying to see through these reflecting surfaces, like when fishing, boating, or driving. Maui Jim sunglasses feature one of the most effective polarized lenses on the market. They are lightweight, tough, and very stylish.

Bottom Line: Style for Hollywood; sporty enough for the dedicated outdoor freak.

Typhoon-Maui Jimm's sunglasses

By: Tomas Minarik (1)
September 10, 2006

I wore may Raybans for last 10 years. I decided to go with Maui Jimm's because I heard a lot about them and some of my friends like them. So I bought pair of Typhoon's. The glass is excellent. I love the clearness and the sharpness. They are little havier on my nose but not big deal. I would give them 9.8 from 10, by far the highest score for any sunglasses in my opinion. Also they came with case so I don't have to worry about putting them in my bag. The case is tough and looks cool. Thank you Maui Jimm's and Thank you Backcountry.com

Excellent clarity without the "shifting" of colors

I am a private pilot and need to be able to look at aviation maps without the "shifting" of colors that happens with some other sunglasses. The Typhoon's give you a crisp view and provide the true colors I require. Excellent Product!

THE "BEST" LENSES

I've worn bolle's, ray ban's, arnnette's, varnett's, you name it..... but there are NO better quality of lenes than maui jim's! My last pair is a pair of typhoon's, never have I had such a perfect fit as this pair of glasses. I tried them on and bought them on the spot! If you have never tried a pair of maui jim len's then do yourself and your eyes a favor, try on a pair. There are NO BETTER!

Maui "Gems"

By: Fat ride! (9)

I am most impressed with the clarity and color enhancing tint of the Maui Jims. This is by far the most superior lense technology that I have been exposed to. In the past I have worn Vaurnet, Smith, Revo, Spy, and Serengeti. These puppies smoke the competition! Once you put the "Gems" on, you don't want to take them off.

40 years everyday experience---I KNOW

By: Old (to you!) Surfer/Waterman (1)

Been through them all as they developed Ray Ban, Vaurnet, Revo...thought these best until my source in Annapolis, MD politely suggested that I step outside with the Revos I LOVED, but lost and 'new' brand, Maui Jim---she knows I ONLY do polarized. One look, no contest. Best ever and a "bargain" for the value, favorite Revos $310, Maui Jim $178 and superior.
