Marmot Free Flight Pant - Men's
Enough with the 70s butt-tight ski pants—those might look rad and old school, but they’ll likely bust a seam when you launch off that booter. Better go for the Marmot Men’s Free Flight Pants. These babies have a loose cut and Gore-Tex Performance Shell fabric. Brushed tricot on the inside of the seat and thighs adds extra comfort while you rip down the double-blacks, and flapped cargo pockets hold snacks so you won’t hit a low-fuel wall mid-day. Needless to say, the waterproof breathable fabric busts outside moisture without making your legs feel stuffy.
Bottom Line: Room to fly.

The fabric on them feels like a soft carhart fabric, but not cotton of course. Tey are really tough, and will take plenty of punishment even from trees. The loose (but not baggy) cut on these allows for unhindered movement without trailing out behind you.
When it is kind of chilly out i wear these on the street, they are low profile enough to pass as regular pants.
Is this pant designed to fit over an alpine or telemark ski boot?

Just returned from a 3 day ski trip and these pants kept me warm and dry. They fit loose but not too baggy. They do however run a little large...I am 6'0" with a 34.5 waist and the mediums fit fine with room for long underwear or even sweatpants. Only complaint is that the cargo pockets use very small strips of Velcro to close and do not hold very well. One of the cargo pockets does have an additional side zipper pocket, but it is small. Also and adjustable waist and leg vents would be a nice addition.

Would you say that these would be good enough to hike in in the spring/summer/fall, or would they be too warm? I'm trying to find a nice pair of pants I could hike in, but would also be water proof, ruling out the need for a waterproof shell. Thanks!

I would recommend looking for a pair of Gore-Tex Paclite for warmer days. They aren't very durable but extremely light and breathable....you can always add a layer below if its more on the chilly side. I recently bought a pair of rossignol pac-lite for warm skiing days and i love them, except as I said it will tear easily.Way too warm for late spring, summer and early fall. The liner inside these pants is like a soft brushed polyester, almost like a very, very thin fleece. Other than the breathability of the gore-tex, there is no ventilation at all, no side zips..zero. You will have heat stroke in 30 mins if you hiked in these with 50 plus degree weather. BTW ryandbolin's review nailed it on the sizing.

These are excellent. The fabric is great. The pockets are great. The fit is great although I am about a 34 waist and definitely wear a medium. I would say mediums were more like a 33-34. I had to return the large pair I had after I tried them on. I wouldn't go with the large unless I was at least a 35, and then I would still need a belt.

How is the inseam on these pants? I usually were a 33" waist and 34ish" inseam. The sizing chart says 31" inseam for the M which seems like it would be super short. Going up to a large seems problematic as the reviews seems to indicate they are big in the waist. Anybody have any advice?

I am a 34 waist and a 32 inseam, the medium fits very well, with room for longjohns and a shirt tucked in. The inseam seems to be more of a 33ish.

I wore these pants for the first time during a 5 day trip to Breck this week. Weather ranged from sun and 45 degrees to blizzard conditions with wind chills waaaay below zero. I came away completely satisfied. Fabric appears very durable, but is also super comfy. I also liked the numerous pockets. I'm a 34 waist and had to exchange a large for a medium, which fit just right. Got a great deal at backcountry outlet.
