Marmot Super Hero Softshell Jacket - Women's

You don't need super powers to move fast in the mountains. All you need is some drive and the Marmot Women's Super Hero M1-rated Softshell Jacket. Its Gore Windstopper N2S Scuba fabric provides an excellent combination of water resistance and extreme breathability—ideal for alpinists and backcountry skiers who cover large amounts of terrain each day. The zip-off PreCip Plus hood gives the Super Hero Softshell Jacket extra protection when bad weather strikes, and vented underarm gussets increase breathability when you're chugging along.

Bottom Line: The Marmot Super Hero Softshell Jacket is the cape of choice for alpinists everywhere.

Too small

By:

It looked great on until I tried it with my vest underneath - too small. It gets too cold in Ontario to use the jacket alone, especially since it does not have a powder skirt, waist cinch or inner cuffs to keep out the wind. It does have a hip drawstring, but waist cords work better when you're kiteskiing.

What's the difference between a soft shell and a hard shell?

What's the difference between a soft shell and a hard shell?

Flag

There is no such thing as a hardshell jacket. Softshell just refers to the fact that it is insulative as well as waterproof or at least water resistant, as well as the fact that unlike your average rain jacket, it is breathable.

Wonderful... but not for me

By:

Fantastic jacket, impeccably made, great trim fit in the torso and arms but still easy to move around in. Great features... The tuckaway/removeable hood rocks, fits great. I wanted to love this jacket BUT the collar/neck is way too big/wide for me. Even though I layer up with fleece zip t-necks, there is a lot of room. If folks wear neck gaiters or wrap up a scarf around their neck this might not be an issue. A drawstring to tighten the fit around the neck would have made this the perfect jacket if you aren't piling on the layers. With the hood stowed, the collar is a bit stiff (you could remove the hood and stash it in one of many pockets on the jacket). Add that to the collar being too big... this jacket wasn't for me. I own a Marmot hardshell and various fleeces and never had an issue with fit around the neck.

Super Hero--Super Soft Shell

Bought one for my wife. She got to try it out this past weekend in the ADK's. Temps in 20's and a biting wind. She hates cold, but as soon as she put on the SHero at tree line, she had a BIG grin. Warm and windproof. Very comfy climbing, w/ a hood that doesn't get in the way. She can't wait for winter to hit. Now if I could only find something to keep her feet warm.

Quite an amazing softshell!

I purchased this coat mainly to serve as survival gear. No, seriously! I moved from FL to rural IA, and forgot just how cold it gets. The coat has served me well. It has kept me warm even when the thermostat read -20F, and I was out snowshoeing. I purchased the black coat, which I also wear to work. Even in black dress slacks and heels, the coat is very fashionable. I normally wear an XS, but I took a chance and purchased the S. It fits well, and the elastic drawcords on the waist help keep a flattering shape. Overall, this is a very versatile coat.
