Too big

By:

Had to return this jacket. Nothing to do with the quality or anything like that...although I didn't get to test it out, it appeared plenty warm and weather resisitant for my needs. It was just too big for my standard medium body! Once This site has it back in stock in medium I will definitely consider buying it. Delivery was, as usual, prompt and problem free!

Most Excellent

I am a big guy and fortunately Marmot fits me and allows me moveability, Gravity is fantastic and the fit is good, use for cool/cold weather commuting on my bike. Good wind/water resistance and breaths well.

extremely versatile

this is my most versatile piece of gear right now. athletic fit, but not so tight that you cant layer a thermal and fleece underneath. perfect length to wear a likewise athletic fitting shell over top. i was perfectly comfortable wearing the gravity with a midweight thermal & midweight fleece in 20 degree & cloudy weather. breathes exceptionally well, even when i did sweat after a hard run (in 45 degrees and sunny), i was always dry by the top of the chairlift. i especially appreciate that there are no pit zips bulking up the fabric under my arms. the whole obsession with pit zips is rather illogical for any shell, but its utterly ridiculous for a highly breathable softshell. if you ever get too hot, just open the biggest vent you got: the front zipper!!

not quite as advertised

I love this jacket for wearing around town, at work, etc. It has a great form-fitting look, provides some warmth and general protection from the elements, and is durable. HOWEVER, it is NOT wind-resistant enough for skiing, at least in weather below around 25 degrees. The wind cuts through it pretty easily.

Great midlayer or light softshell

By:
December 12, 2006

I bought this jacket today, immediately before going skiing. Last time I wore a Marmot Driclime as my midlayer, I was getting cold. Today with the Gravity, I was toasty all day, from standing in line for a lift ticket until I stopped for the day. I stopped for dinner after my day of skiing, had a long walk to my car and was still warm. I love this jacket. Well-priced, fashionable (somewhat fitted, well-designed stitching, cool looking pockets, etc.), and most importantly very functional. It was at most 24 degrees F without wind chill factor today at the warmest...
