Marmot Ascend Jacket - Men's

The Marmot Men's Ascend Jacket's water-resistant, windproof, and extremely durable shell keeps you protected from the elements on your next climbing or skiing trip. Marmot constructed this versatile jacket with its durable, breathable M1 Softshell fabric to hold up to the abuses of life in the mountains. A soft brushed lining makes the Ascend Jacket comfortable to wear over base layers. Use this Marmot softshell alone in mild weather, or zip into it as a mid-layer when things get wet in the high country.

Bottom Line: Protect yourself from mountain weather with the versatile Marmot Ascend Jacket.

Love my Ascend

I bought this jacket in Fall 2007 and used it extensively then and during the Winter and Spring. Wore it alone on warmer Fall/Spring days and when snoeshowing and xc skiing during the Winter. On colder days or when less active, I layered a 100 wt. fleece underneath. Perfect! Jacket fits snugly, but moves with me and I can fit a light fleece underneath. Fabric has held up really well. No tears from tree branches and thorny bushes on hikes. I have not worn this in a downpour, but can report that it is very waterproof during light, steady rains. My only quibble is that the pitzips are difficult to rezip while you have the jacket on. Not sure why, but I definitely find it much easier to take the jacket off, zip up the pitzips, the put the jacket back on. Overall, this jacket is fabulous and was a good choice for my needs. Well done, once again, Marmot!

Overall great jacket

I've only had this jacket for a few weeks now but I love it. I live on coastal bc rainforest climate and I'm very impressed with how well the water beads off of this jacket. It's material is a little stiff so it can kind of bunch up on you when you move around, but its a great jacket. It could use an inside pocket, but the 3 zippered pockets do just fine. I am 6'1" 175 lbs and the large fits great.

Great Soft Shell

By:

I have the Marmot Ascend for almost a year and have used it extensively. Very pleased with how light and thin the jacket is which makes it really convinient and easy for travelling around. Great fabric offers soft feel and classy look and is great for holding off water and wind. On cold weather, I would either wear a long sleeve underneath if I am using the Ascent as an outwear or I would wear a shell jacket over hit for colder weather. Love the side vent (armpit), helps kool you off so that you don't have to take off the jacket especially great when you are on the go. Super Great Zippers - it has not jammed on me once. Only knock is the sizing - it snug on your body tight compare to North Face Bionic. It can feel tight at first and can be uncomfortable if you have long sleeve undershirt but somehow the jacket would stretch - next thing you know you don't feel the tightness anymore. For me its a great investment!
