The Marmot Northshore jacket is perfectly acclimated to the Northwest's weather—not only is it perfectly waterproof, but it's warm and cozy as well. We wish Northshore was a reference to Hawaii's sunny beaches, but unfortunately, it applies to the gray Northwest. Two jackets in one, the Northshore takes Marmot's waterproof PreCip shell and adds a removable mid-weight fleece liner. A full hood and taped seams keep you fully protected from gails and downpours. Should things heat up, pit zips will keep air flowing, the liner zips out easily, and the hood rolls easily into the collar. Wear the full-meal deal for skiing mid-winter, and wear just the shell when the sun returns in the spring.
Bottom Line: Stand on Vancouver's North Shore in Marmot's Northshore, and feel like your standing on Hawaii's North Shore.
This shell isn't going to be that packable. It is going to weigh 2lb 7oz which should help with an idea of how packable it will be. This is going to be your proper ski jacket, it has a fleece lining as well. The fleece lining is also removable which will take some of the weight of making it a little bit more packable but all in all this isn't going to be a ultra light jacket that you can really pack down. Take a look at Arc'teryx for more packable jackets.
