Marmot Expedition Mitt

Got these for my wife whose hands are always cold when snowboarding. Even in moderate temperatures her hands are cold and these mittens kept them warm in 10 degree (F) temps. Very little dexterity with these mittens to the point that they generally come off to connect snowboard bindings. The sizes are much larger than average Marmot gloves and mittens. An XS would be fine for most women and the Small - Medium would fit most men. Overall very happy with these, but if you have anything but the coldest hands they are probably overkill for skiing / snowboarding on most days.

I love marmot stuff, its never let me down. Got these gloves for summit day mountaineering, where there isn't a lot of hand control required ... the other posts are right, they are not a precise feel under the hand! They are super warm and thick, with no detachable inner - ie you add one. My wife got the OR version (with innner) and so I was able to do a comparison. The OR ones are better and more versatile I think but much more expensive. Still a great product to go with your oversized down jacket.

These are the warmest handwear I've ever worn, including others from marmot like the randonee mitt and the ultimate glove. I took them skiing when it was -10 degrees outside (-27 with wind chill) and my hands were toasty, even sweating after some of the more difficult runs. I have been using them all of this ski season and they show no signs of wearing out. The only downside to these is that because they are so stuffed full of insulation, it is a bit harder to fasten helmet buckles and open up my cell phone. However, it's not too much of a problem, and holding on to ski poles is no harder than any other mitten, contrary to other reviews. Also, the inner and outer liners are attached along the top portion of the mittens. Overall, I would highly recommend these mittens. NOTE: buy them a size smaller than you normally would wear, they run a bit large.

Bulky mittens with a liner that lacks grip to the shell, making it difficult to grab anything -- even your skis to carry them. My hands were warm, but my thumb did get cold skiing on a very cold day.

These mitts are super warm but the durability is terrible. If you buy them for light resort skiing they'll be fine, but anything more, they'll split on the sides, and by anything more I do mean gripping the steering wheel too tight.

These are the greatest for people who's hands get cold skiing. The new palm design has made them even more durable as that is what gave way on my old pair!

The mitts are great for really cold weather as they're filled with Down. However, if you are trying to use the mitt while skiing or any other sport that requires a lot of hand movement, it's hard to hold the equipment in your hand firmly as the Down keeps sliding between your hand and the tool within the mitt sleeve.

I purchased the Marmot Expedition Mitt in February after returning from a very cold ski trip to Steamboat Springs. I returned to Steamboat last week and we again had a couple of cold days. I used a glove liner with the mitten and it was almost too warm! I have very small hands for a male and I have always had difficulty keeping my fingers warm even using chemical hand warmers. These mittens are perfect. They do run a little large—the men’s' small is a little big, but okay with liners, plus using mittens for the first time had its own learning curve.

I bought these as a cold-weather downhill ski glove, but had to return them. I found that the surface between the inner liner and the outer shell was very slippery, and since the gloves were pretty bulky and the inner and outer liners weren't attached to one another, I couldn't get a solid grip on my ski poles.

The mittens are both comfortable and warm. These were bought as a gift for my wife who suffers with Raynauds. While it has not been extremely cold since she start using them, she has not needed to use pocket warmers in the gloves (hand warmers never provided enough warmth).
