Macpac Traverse 35 Pack

You're looking for a weatherproof day/overnight, but not one that feels like you have a diver's oxygen tank strapped to your back. Macpac understands, and it made the Traverse 35 Pack with a full lumbar pad and a weight-transferring framesheet. The framesheet siphons the weight from your shoulders and places it on the hip-belt, while hip-fin stabilizer straps on the hip-belt cinch the load and reduces lateral sway as you hike over loose rock and wet trails. The Traverse 35 backpack's back panel uses AirMesh fabric and a center panel to help prevent back sweat. Weatherproof AzTec fabric and Rainshadow seam construction protect your gear during rainstorms.

Bottom Line: Comfortable, weatherproof, durable.

awesome pack

Great pack. I got the size 2 and it works just right for my 4'll" female frame. Very comfortable to wear and will hold a lot! Small compartments make it easy for traveling and stashing important things. I am impressed with the workmanship.

I think all of Macpac's gear is manufactured in China these days, although they'll still repair things within NZ. This has been the case for about 3-4 years now. Macpac's spin on this is on their website at http://www.macpac.co.nz/go/manufacturing

The Aztec material is more durable than it is waterproof. The seems and zipper are sealed. The Aztec fabric is polyester+cotton. They claim once the cotton portion gets wet, it fills in the empty spaces by expanding . in short, Aztec fabric must be wet to be completely waterproof.

The zipper is waterproof and the seams are taped. The Aztec material is a cotton/poly blend. The cotton has to be wet to fill in the airspaces between the two fabrics.

Huge pack

By:
June 25, 2008

I received the size 3 in the mail - it's huge for a 40 litre pack. In fact, the top of the pack was like a headrest-which I hated. So I returned it. The quality of the pack is great though. I'd consider the size 2 (even though my torso length is 19") but don't want to chance the pack not fitting again.
