La Sportiva Halite GTX Hiking Boot - Women's

The La Sportiva Halite GTX Women's Hiking Boots provide solid traction for both uphill and downhill hiking to keep you on your feet no matter how steep the trail gets. They key to these La Sportiva boots are their I.B.S. soles with lugs angled in different directions to create excellent grip in any direction. The Halite GTX Hiking Boots also include Gore-Tex inserts to protect against nasty mud slogs after a brutal rain storm.

Bottom Line: Steep, muddy, nasty trails? No problem. You have the La Sportiva Halite GTX Boots to help you along your way.

Ouch!

At first, I thought this boot was great! First tried at home, walking around the house for a week, then worn to work for 2 weeks. Next, an 11-mile hike in steep terrain, and despite a couple of hot spots, I still thought they were ok. Then on a 3-day 30-some-mile backpack trip in montane/alpine terrain. After day two, I refused to wear them any longer. The sole’s stiffness did not loosen - there was little flex, and so I had pain in my toes. Five days later, I still have "numb toe syndrome". I do have pronating feet with weak arches. Replacing factory insoles with Shock Doctors did not correct the problem - bad feet could be part of the issue. The boots do have good support and are waterproof - my feet didn't sweat excessively. The braking system works well on scree-y terrain. I will, however, be searching for another boot.
