Bottom Line: Keep your feet comfortable in the La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX Hiking Boots while you carry big loads though the hills.

Bomber Boots

By:
September 16, 2008

I am starting to only use La Sportiva Boots. This is another great creation of footwear from this manufacture. Excellent grip, and good range of ankle motion to support my strong ankles. Broke them in rather quickly. Pre-break in, the left boot upper lace eyelet was putting painful pressure onto my foot, just above my ankle. But after only one hour or so of use, these boots now feel amazing. I will be using these on a 100 mile, four day hike, with a fifty pound backpack. I previously have used the Trango S EVO GTX boots and loved them.

Hey - I wear 44 in Ecco boots. 10 or 10.5 US sizing. Can't quite make sense of the sizing chart for LaSportiva. Should I go with 44?

bomb proof

These are the best backpacking boots I have ever owned!!!! They fit great, warm and give great support. I did the Inca trail in them and about 120 miles of the At in them, and they still look brand new!!!!! Plus they are very water proof.

A very durable boot

By:
September 2, 2008

I have put many miles on these boots, and in many types of terrain. They are the most comfortable, waterproof, durable, all purpose boot that I use; and I have worn many. I am currently on my second pair of Sportiva TT boots and I love them, although I cannot expertly comment on their effectiveness in the snow, at least for long distance. They lace up well, fit snug, and feel comfortable in the width, and I don't have narrow feet. My toes have adequate wiggle room, and don't suffer fatigue at the end of heavy strenuous hike. Make sure you know your foot size, wear proper socks, and you shouldn't have a problem, especially if you are a three season hiker.

I am assuming that there is not way that you could get a pair of crampons on these things?

You could use crampons that don't require bails, the ones with just straps, every company calls them something different. Keep in mind however, that the boots are not as stiff as mountaineering boots.

Heavy, hot, cold, and "squishy"

By:
June 16, 2008

Average. Construction is good, but nothing special. Will only fit narrow feet correctly. There is, however, an unforgivable lack of support in all areas for such heavy kicks, like wearing big, heavy tennis shoes. They are also extremely hot in the summer, yet get icy cold at around forty degrees. The only plus I can give them is that they are generally comfortable and stay dry, as any goretex lined boot should. If you are one of the small number of people who can actually fit these, they are Okay for technical hiking as long as your pack is light.

Heavy and "squishy"

By:
June 16, 2008

Heavy boots lacking support for their mass, average quality, crude construction. Only fits narrow feet correctly. Very hot, do not transpire moisture well, which makes them also very cold starting at forty degrees. Materials and design are old school, but the support is not. Can only be described as squishy, and they get squishier all the time. Complete breakdown in less than a year. Sportiva in general is experiencing some quality issues right now with many of their products.

Booted goodness

By:
February 27, 2008

I've never been a big fan of boots. Lets be honest, They're heavy, cumbersome can get wicked hot in the summer heat. However, when the trail gets muddy and the talus gets loose, a good pair of boots are indispensable. If your looking for a boot thats light, stable, and very very comfortable with little break in time. Look no father. These boots give you solid heel hold, but still have a roomy toe box that helps keep your toes moving and grooving. After trying 6 pair of boots I settled on these and have no regrets. Pick up a pair today.

Most comfortable hiking boot ever!!!

By:
January 21, 2008

These boots required only a short break-in, and provided incredible comfort for a 12-hour day hike up Mt. Katahdin, Maine. Despite having narrow feet, these boots were a perfect fit. Thus, these boots may feel tight for someone with wide feet. Bottom line: These are the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever worn.

great 3-season boot

By:
January 30, 2007

These are very good boots. I didn't buy them from BC because BC only recently started carrying them; I do recommend them though. They definitely require some decent breaking in before they are truly comfortable but once they are broken in they are very nice. Good stiffness and very waterproof. They excel with heavier loads. Not for really cold temps (great 3 season any-terrain boot) but otherwise they are wonderful.
