Lowa Renegade GTX Mid Hiking Boot - Men's

The nubuck Lowa Men's Renegade GTX Mid Hiking Boot features a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex lining so you can cross streams and slog through mud, and your feet will stay dry. If water gets in through your boot's top, Lowa designed its insole to use the natural pump action of walking to force water vapor out of the shoe. A beefy Vibram sole will keep you as sure-footed as a mountain goat on rough terrain. These Renegade boots wear comfortably for the long haul thanks to an injected PU mid-sole that absorbs shock and the stability and support of a shank.

Bottom Line: Hike muddy, rocky, wet trails in the Lowa Renegade GTX mid-hikers.

Does anyone know how this boot compares to the Lowa "Snowbird"...

Does anyone know how this boot compares to the Lowa "Snowbird" hiking boot? I have a pair of Snowbirds which are just great for all-around moderate hiking. What I'm looking for is a boot with a little more ankle support and a more aggressive outsole. Lowa recommended the Renegade. Has anyone had both?

Lowas Are The Bomb!

I've owned at least 4 pair of Lowa Renegade GTX Boots over the past 6 years and have put countless miles on them. In one case, I wore the same pair virtually every day through a Scottish Fall & Winter, with side trips to Bavaria, The Czeck Republic & Poland- all in very cold & wet weather. During this time, I easily averaged 6 miles per day. Never once have I found the minutest flaw or failure. The quality is outstanding, as is the comfort. You simply will not find, regardless of cost, a better hiking boot for average terrain and/or the urban jungles. Make no mistake, these are serious boots for serious use. Granted, they may not have the heavy duty soles to isolate sharp rocks in really rough terrain, but neither do they weigh a ton. They can handle being worn day-in & day-out without deterioration, and you will never have sore feet at the end of a long day.

Comfortable but not for the backcountry

Bought these "lightweight" hiking boots after 2 years of having the shoe version. Like the shoe version, these Nubuck Beauties achieve comfort right out of the box. Please note: These hikers are not full backpacking boots, rather a lightweight, day-hiking mid. I took them on a 12 mile, 1.5 day/night trek with 25 lbs. on my back in the Mt. Rogers National Rec' Area. Although they had great ankle support, the soles are not meaty enough for rocky or rooty trails. I had several "I can feel the rock come right through the sole" moments. I also found it difficult to tighten the lower laces on descents to avoid my toes hitting the front of the boot. I suspect as I break them in, over time they may soften enough to tighten the instep laces. Also, I liked the slightly wider feel which allowed ample space for a liner and medium wool sock. Great day hiker, not recommended for multi-day backpacking trips.

Narrow is narrow!

Lowa GTX Mid Narrow is actually narrow! Tried multiple other "Narrow" boots, including LL Bean Cresta Hiker and Vasque Wasatch; neither were narrow. Great boot so far.

Very Happy with Back Country and LOWA

I wore my new boots at the New Orleans Jazz Fest for 4 days and loved them. They were comfortable the first time I put them on. I am even more impressed with the service I received from Back Country. Thank you, Steven D. Wetzel

Light weight hunter

By: Renegade GTX Hiking boot(1)

I broke my ankle six months prior to purchasing my Renegade GTX hiking boots. What I was looking for and found in your product is a light weight boot that fits like a glove! I've yet to field test, I'll be doing that with in the next month and I'll let you know more after hunting.
