What is the waist size. Someone wrote a review about being to fit two people in the waste. NOT good if you have a standard waist size (i.e., hourglass-ish figure), like a woman.

i have these in two colors and really like them. they're functional, cute and comfy. i wear them on camping trips and into the office, and i find them appropriate for both. the pattern on the fabric is almost like a super fine corduroy, and they're really soft. one thing that i found interesting is that i ended up in a 4 in one pair and a 2 in another--however, they both fit exactly the same (i am 5'6" and 120 lbs). the bootcut bottoms are also nice.

What do the back pockets look like?

the back pockets are just slits across the back--so there's not a "patch" pocket like you would see on a jean.
