Line Prophet 90 Alpine Ski

Open up the throttle anywhere on the mountain when you're riding the Line Prophet 90 Alpine Ski. This ski's versatile dimensions (125 / 90 /113mm) give you a stable platform for back bowls with quick edge-to-edge performance in the trees. The Prophet 90's maple core and Metal Matrix give this ski ample torsional stiffness to charge your favorite steeps without sacrificing easy turn initiation or weight. Ride this Line twintip in soft pow, hardpack, bumps, and on ice—the freeride (firm) flex provides control at ridiculous speeds.

Bottom Line: Break the speed limit on groomers, hop into the trees for freshies, then hit the bumps.

Great Ski For The East

By:
November 6, 2008

I ski all over New England, so I needed a ski that could handle the ice at Canon, but the Pow at Jay Peak, and this ski does it incredibly well. A Good amount of float in the tree's at Jay, and plenty stiff enough for carving at speed at Canon. Buy them and you won't be disappointed.

Follow up for willie2272186... I am 6'0 170 lbs what length do you recommend on the Hazmat's? Thanks for the help.

If you charge hard and ski more big mountain, ( steep, fast open lines) go 186cm, other wise go 181cm. also depends on what size your on now and if you prefer a little longer ski. with only 5cm difference it won,t be that much difference. good choice they rip.

Anybody out there know how these compare to the Liberty Hazmat's? About 50/50 groomers vs pow. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I am a huge line fan but in this case i would go for the hazmats, they are softer, fatter, and more playful. The 90,s being stiffer will give you better hard snow performence, but not by much. any where else the hazmat will shine also the bambo core makes them so lively and light.

Hi this Question is for willie2272186. Im looking at the prophet 100 and the 90... The great debate. Im 6'2" 223lbs and im looking for a ski that I can ski everywhere. But im afraid that if I go with the 100's im going to regret it because of its performance on hardpack I just cant make up my mind. Does the 100 loose alot of hardpack performance compared to if I were to buy the 90? And I have read all of the reviews and I cant tell if it performes well on ice or not. Thanks

No the 100 will not ski as well on ice as the 90, the 90 is quite a bit stiffer then the 100 so it wins there. As for groomers they both ski it well you can just lay down big fat GS turns. The advantage of the 100 is that it feels so much more stable because of the extra width under foot, pluse if you get in any powder or trees it floats well. they both have metal in them but the 100 busts the crud better because of the width. Go 100 once you get used to the width you will know why its one of the best skis on the market and then you will want something wider. If you go 100 get the 186cm for your size as they do tend to ski a little shorter.

How is the factory mount. Is it too far back to ride switch well....

How is the factory mount. Is it too far back to ride switch well. I live in the east so i ski groomers, park and powder when i go on trips. I was wondering where most people mounted them?

By:

Flag

The factory mount on these is 89mm or 3 1/4 " back from center, it is a directional ski so it mounts futher back. you could mount it maybe 1 inch foreward of recomended to help it ski switch but i would not go any more then that foreward of recomended.

I'm 16, about 5'5" and 120 lbs so would i want to play it safe with the 165, or look toward long term wear with the 172? Also i enjoy an occasional romp in the park, and i was wondering how these skis would hold up there.

I'm 18, 5'9", and 145, and I'm still skiing 169cm skis very aggressively with no problem whatsoever.

I have a follow up question to extend tch's question I currenty have the Mantra in a 184 willie couldnt be more accurate. The mantra is a stiff straight liner. I'm considering the prophet 90, 100, K2 obsethed, or kung fujas. I only ski the west, I do at least one cat trip a year. Alta is my playground. I love powder but spend alot of time in the bumps and trees. How much quikness do I give up by going with the 100's. What else would you recomend. thanks for your advice

Yo hombre.

If you are looking for a quick ski, with decent float, I think the Kung Fujas might be more up your alley (almost exactly like the seth from two years ago). Not to mention the K2 skis are vertical gosidewalls, unlike the cap construction on the lines...Go K2 obsethed, the kung fujas are not fat enough for deep powder there only 95mm where the obsethed are 108mm BIG difference in pow. Also only the prophet seris and the price point park skis by LINE are cap constuction the rest are side wall constuction. maybe you can look at the new line blends there 100mm in the waist and more aimed at all moutain @ freestye sking. The prophet 100 is the quickes of this group it will work well in the park also because of its light weight thats why its regarded as one of best skis you can buy. But the K2 obsethed will work the best in powder. also look at the 4frnt vct such a fun ski, just so expensive.

I'm a racer, so i love speed. How well will these skis handle speed and ice?

By:

Flag

For a twin tip they can handle speed @ ice pretty well, plus they carve like a gs ski. But keep in mind that no twin tip ski is going to handle ice like a race ski,and because of the raised tail they sometimes don't hold an edge as long. But if you are a good skier you sould be able to ski them just as well. prophet 90's are very stable at speed and love to carve. IMO if you have never skied twin tips and try them, you will never go back to conventional ski,s. twin tips open up a whole new world of sking for you.

Has anyone skied the Prophet 90s and 100s? How much powder performance...

Has anyone skied the Prophet 90s and 100s? How much powder performance do you lose with the 90s and how much carving performance do you lose with the 100s? I live in the midwest but ski almost exclusively in CO. I'm in the trees, powder, off piste about 90% of the time. I'm also considering the Mantra and Atomic Snoop Daddy.

By:

Flag

The 90's do carve better on hardpack and in icey conditions, but if you are a good skier you won,t notice that much difference with the 100,s. The big difference will be in powder where the 100 will float much better when it gets deeper then boot deep. Also the 100 is just as quick in tree,s as the 90 but is so much more stable when launching off jumps. If you plan on using it 90% off piste go prophet 100 as the 90 is more off a on-piste ski. Also i would not even consider the other two skis if you plan on sking more off-piste as they are more on-piste grommer ski's that will work well in the tree,s if the snow is not too deep. The mantra is a stiff ski that rips the hardpack @ ice but not so much off-piste.

great skis overall

By:
October 7, 2008

i got these skis last year and love them, i got the 179's, and used them for everything from powder to moguls to groomers and they did great every day i rode them, my only complaint is that the top sheet is a bit weak, i had two pretty deep gashes in the top after just one season....... they are still a great one ski quiver

Fire Bun!!!!

By:
December 23, 2007

These skis are true fire in almost any condition. Great float in 2 feet and under, and rips like race skis on groomers. The beefy edges dice through icy and choppy snow like butter, The center stance give more confidence and balance for blasting vetical takeoffs. The light weight tips give great spring off any bump, jump, of cliff. These are true mountain goat skis. I got the 165's for pow tree skiing, and backcountry hucking. They also feel pretty stable on landings from flat smashes to nose dive transitions. Not to shabby in the park either, switch landings are soo much easier with the 113 rear tips. I haven't pushed them too hard in mogels yet. Top caps seems a littel weak, but I tend to smash through trees land on rocks etc. Blaze these skis and hope they hold up for a few seasons???????

Versatile

By:
March 15, 2007

These skis are versatile - fat enough to ski powder but with a stiff enough flex to ski groomers. The twin tips are nice - might help release from turns better. I ski them tele and so far I'm satisfied. They are stylin!

sweetness

By:
March 9, 2007

these things rock. the edges are indestructible and help you power down (or up) any turn in any hairy snow conditions. Compared with other similar skis (B4s and Gotamas) I felt that it took a while to get your weight centered...i think this is because the shovels are really big and I had to alter my ankle position and balance to get them to flow. These things are in their element with 6 inches of fresh snow on top of ice/crud...which is every day where i ski. i can see why the other review recommended these for the east coast. my complaint is that some little grom skied over the tails of my skis and took off a huge chunk of the top sheet...i can see the wood core! the edges may be solid but the top sheet is like saran wrap.

Great all-mountain ski

By:
January 31, 2007

This ski kills it all over the mountain. The GS sidecut and metal topsheet give it great edge hold on hardpack, while the round tip and 125mm tip keep you afloat in the deepest of powder. It's amazingly light, but my one complaint is that it feels a little sluggish edge to edge. Overall I'd say it's a perfect ski for east coasters and Utahns alike.
