Life-Link Guide Ultra Light Trekking Poles - 1 Pair - 2008

The Life-Link Guide Ultra Light is one of the lightest and most dependable trekking poles on Earth. This do-it-all, trek/ski/expedition pole is the ultimate choice of guides and serious adventurers thanks in part to its easy conversion into an avalanche probe. The Guide Ultra Light packs down to 30in for storage in a duffel bag, atop a yak, or on your pack. Great for steep ascents or use as a spring and winter pole for backcountry skiing or snowboarding. A carbon fiber lower provides incredibly light swing weight, while the snag-proof trekking baskets protect the flex tip, provide grip on steep slopes, and won't catch on passing rocks and shrubberies. Combine the Guide Ultra Light with a set of Snowflake Winter Baskets, and you've got the ultimate 4-season pole.

Good all around pole

I have used this pole for walking as a guide in the Tetons as well as on several expeditions around the world while snowboarding on the Seven Summits. They work well. One trick to longevity is to take them apart to dry after use, otherwise they get a bit sticky and can seize in the closed position, which is a bummer, especially if you are just beginning your long ski on split snowboard back to the parking lot after ripping a run with the poles on the pack. The two sets of baskets (powder and smaller) are really nice. I use them without baskets in the summer time. It is good to give them a good hard twist to help prevent collapsing. For a good all around pole, the LLGUL (long name...) is a great choice.
