KEEN Targhee ll Mid Hiking Shoe - Women's
Keen calls its Women’s Targhee II Mid Hiking Shoe “four wheel drive for your feet,” and they weren’t lyin’—you’ll feel downright mountain goat-ish with these grippy carbon rubber outsoles. A little mountain storm won’t slow you down either; KEEN.DRY waterproof breathable outer membranes spare your feet in the event of a little splish-splashing. A protective toe cap makes painful toe-stubbing a thing of the past, and an S3 heel support structure keeps you feeling light on your hooves—er, feet—all through the day’s hike.
Bottom Line: Durable and resilient to fit right in with the mountain landscape.

My husband has these shoes and convinced me that I needed a pair for our trail hiking adventures together. I got a pair from backcountry after trying them on at a local retailer to see how they fit. I've had them less than a month, worn them half a dozen times hiking already, and love them! They give the security you need on rock trails and ankle support for rooted trails. All that, and I saved $35!
what is the weather rating for this boot, ?-25, -40? thanks

After a multitude of training hikes i set out on the JMT last Sept in some Vasques...after day three they were tied to my pack like paper weights and I was hiking in my trail runners/camp sneakers. I tossed the Vasques the first opportunity I had and got my mom to send in a pair of Keens with my food resupply (with a bad ankle, trail runners were not a long term option).
Without breaking them in at all, the Keens were comfortable, dry and blister free from the first step to the last some 150 miles later! I was more than impressed with the boots performance and comfort and will be sporting them on all my future hikes to come.
I had my mom (with the same size feet) try them on with normal sock and then buy a half of a size up to accommodate foot swelling and it worked out just right. For normal wear i would say they fit true to size.
Can I exchange if size is wrong? Can you suggest another hiking
Can I exchange if size is wrong? Can you suggest another hiking boot similar to this one? Need the support around my ankles. lyn

I have a pair of Keens summer shoes, which I bought after my sister raved about hers and so when I was looking for something to use for snowshoeing and this model had so many raves, I had to go for it. About 10 minutes into my outing my insteps were screaming; I almost took the boots off and risked frostbite. Also, the Men'sTarghees were listed as waterproof, but apparently the Women's version is not.
luv 'em

I love these boots. I just got back from a walk down a steep dirt trail and thought to myself, "my feet feel so good in these boots" as they gripped the earth and snug but comfortable around my feet. As far as being happy over clothing goes, these are great!
Keens are cool.

This is my second pair of Keen boots. I have the Voyageur Mid also. No need to break them in, I hiked for miles the first time in them. The Targhee are a little bit stiffer than the Voyageurs, however, and seemed tighter on the instep. Still no problem. I don't know how they do it. I think they must take a mold of my foot while I sleep and conform the boot to my specifications. One other minor prob, the laces in the Targhee were very short!
