One of the elastic laces on my Keen Sebastian shoes broke. There...

One of the elastic laces on my Keen Sebastian shoes broke. There are two
plastic pieces attached to the laces, one tightens and loosens the lacing
and the other connects two ends of the laces together. The lace came loose
from the connector that holds the two ends together. I'm not sure that getting a new lace solves my problem because I don't know how you would lace them since the lace seems to be a continuous piece of elastic since it is connected to the main plastic piece on the end. Perhaps there is a way to open up that plastic holder and reconnect the lace, but I can't see how to do that.
