KEEN Voyageur Mid Hiking Boot - Women's

Mesh linings in the Keen Women's Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots let your feet breathe, while the mid-height cuffs keep the support level up when you're shouldering a heavy pack. Four-millimeter lugs on the Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots grip rough terrain, while ESS shanks provide torsional stability. Lace up these Keen mid hikers, grab your summer camping gear, and hit the trail.

Bottom Line: Because mid-height hiking boots don't have to be sweat-huts for your feet.

Comfortable and Cool

I really love these. They are my first hiking boot ever and were more comfortable right out of the box than most tennies I've owned. The ankle took a little getting used to, but I never got sore spots, just had never really worn much for boots before (unless you count the ski boots I live in in the winter). They are very light and have good air flow - my normally sweaty feet feel a nice breeze. They aren't waterproof because of the venting, but they seem to be designed just right that not much water gets in them and they dry very quickly, even while they are still on your feet. I bought them for a hiking trip in Colorado after making the mistake of wearing trail-runners last year and having very sore ankles. These were almost perfect and gave me a pretty good amount of support for my day hikes (including treking up to 13,800+ feet). The only complaint is that the insole could be better - it is very breathable, but it doesn't have a whole lot under the arch and my fore-foot could've used a bit more cushion. I compensated by wearing a little thicker wool-blend sock that wrapped around my arch and had cushion on the bottom. Even though the temps were in the 70's wearing wool socks, my feet were fine. (My actual star rating would be a 4.5 because of the insole). I'm going to get a new insole and then they should be perfect! I love the wide toebox, it kept my toes from jamming going down the mountains. I do suggest ordering a half size larger than normally for hiking (I got an 8.5 in these and I wear an 8 in my casual Keens and sandals) - the extra 1/2 size gives you room so your toes don't jam into the top on downhills. They are very cute too - they look great with jeans or cargo pants - the colors look so much better in person than on the screen. Would buy them again in a heartbeat.

What happened???? I have a pair of these (purchased fall of 2007)...

What happened???? I have a pair of these (purchased fall of 2007) that ARE waterproof that I've worn to shreds. When I tried to replace them I was told that they don't make the waterproof version now. I'm very sad, WHY NOT,??!! they were the BEST!

There are other companies that make similar boots such as the Vasque Breeze or Scarpa that are made of goretex that will be waterproof. Search "goretex boot" and the options come up.

Great out of the box fit

By:

Bought these about 1 day before a Canyonlands backpacking trip. I knew I would be oaky because Keens alwasy feel great right out of the box, no breaking in necessary. They are really cute, kept my feet cool, lightweight and did a nice job of sticking to the rock in many sections that I had to downclimb with my pack on. I don't think I would wear them for a multiple day long trip but I did hike a 16 mile day with a 45 pound pack on with no blisters or other issues.

I love Keens, Just Not This Pair

I was looking for a warm-weather hiking shoe and thought these would be perfect. I was a little disappointed when I took them out of the box; they felt a little cheap. They fit OK, I didn't think the arch support was that great and they weren't as comfortable as other Keens I've tried (Keen Newport Trail, Keen Ferndale). Plus for the few minutes I had them on inside, my feet were heating up. I would have kept them because I liked the mid cut, but the Ferndales felt much better on my feet and seemed to be more breathable. They're still a nice lightweight shoe, and I'd still recommend them, but I didn't think they were spectacular. (As usual, I ordered a half size up.)
