KEEN Newport H2 Sandal - Men's

Even in a well-maintained boat sans holes, your chances of getting your feet wet are extremely good. Enter the Keen Newport H2 Sandal with a design that protects your toes and a non-marking sole to keep the deck clean. A fully synthetic upper puts hydrophobic material against your skin and keeps it dry. The Newport H2's hybrid shoe/sandal design is more comfortable than a full shoe and protects your foot better than a sandal. The unique anatomical outsole gives superb traction and support on sea and land, and an antibacterial footbed controls moisture and keeps the stank under control.

Bottom Line: The sea is a harsh mistress, so you need good shoes. Wear Keen's Newport H2 Sandals.

Pretty nice!

Comfy, great toe protection, good grip, water proof, easy to clean, good looking & these are the 1st non leather soul sandals that didn't crack my heal. Only draw back is that rocks & sand doesn't find it's way out (because of the smaller slits between the sandals). The Keen Venice H2 Sandal would probably be a better buy if your worried about this. Overall awesome sandal!

im having a problem picking a sport sandal. Im interested in the Teva Karnali Wraptor and the Keen Newport H2 and the Keen Venice H2. I plan to use the sandal when I use my canoe, beach trips, and hiking around rivers. Any advice on which sandal I should purchase?

Go with the Keen! Keen products are high quality are very comfortable. Both the newport and venice are a great sandal, but if I were you I would go with the newport because it is on SALE!

Not for Everyone

Sandal is a bit ugly. Toes can be cramped. For a "Sandal", it covers most of the foot. I returned it.

I wear these every day.

By: mattsbailey2256070(1)
July 10, 2008

I am not normally the kind of guy to run around in sandals or even not to wear socks, so when I say that I love these shoes and wear them every day, it means something. I was terrified that my feet would sweat and stink due to the synthetic insole, but that is not the case at all. The open design means my feet stay cool and dry, yet the toe cap and coverage of the shoe makes my feet feel protected. These shoes are comfortable enough to wear all day and to take long walks in. I'm buying another pair in a different color.

Took a trip to the boundary waters in northern Minnesota with these sandals on my feet and no other footwear. They worked out marvelously, especially with a pair of smartwool socks. Perfect if you're planning on getting your feet wet.

KEEN Newport H2 Sandal - Men's

Not just a great sandal but worth the price. I say this because I bought a pair of similar sandals by Lands End that lasted less than two months. Their sandal fabric & stitching is weak & the sole is thinner thus not good for long walks. Like they say you get what you pay for!

Keen Newport H2 Sandals

May 16, 2008

When I first slipped my feet into these sandals, I wasn't sure I liked the way they felt, but I soon decided that they're very comfortable, more comfortable than my Birkenstocks. I like the toe protection, and I like the style. My usual shoe size is 10-1/2, which is the size I purchased, and the fit is just right for me.

Shoes do fit well with good support and comfort. I did have to buy the next half of size larger. I have not tried them in the water so I cannot comment on that part. Very satisfied with the purchase.

NEWPORT H2

By: noahlange1810689(6)
May 8, 2008

Great fit! The H2 did run a half size small for me, so I ordered an 11 instead of 10.5 (usual) and they fit great. The H2 is also great for people who have wide feet. I wasn't crazy about the style so I ended up returning them and purchasing the KEEN COPPER CANYON for more of a sneaker look.

Stub proof

April 8, 2008

Already worth the investment while walking on the rocks of Roosevelt Island. I misjudged an outcrop and whacked my toe. If they were my old Tevas, it could've been a bad day. But my Newports kept me secure and in the game. Beyond protection, they are cushy (yet supportive on longer hikes) and have so far been resistant to odor (a great feat...no pun intended). Order up a size as they run a little small. I took the advice of others and it's worked out great.

Great Water Sandal

By: Nolema(2)
February 10, 2008

Great comfort, Feels really secure in the boat. And it dries relatively quick. Enclosed toecaps are great, especially when trying to lock yourselfs in a pitching boat. Longevity of the sandal (both the stitching and the sole) will be known in due course..

Well constructed sandal with toe protection and elegance

By: Morgan in Seattle(1)
January 14, 2008

These well constructed sandals protect your toes (good for river crossings, etc) while still being a sandal. Sophisticated enough for wearing as shoes in a less than casual environment, but good as a sandal. Since they are more enclosed than traditional sandals, they look like a shoe, but they drain and dry like a sandal (though more slowly than a fully open sandal). A good combination, with nice color choices.

Favorite Sandal Ever

By: rmnotslacking(52)
January 4, 2008

These sandals are the closest thing to real shoes I've ever come to without actually having to go there. They've got all the openness and drainage of a sandal, with all the protection of a standard hiking boot sole. They offer great support and protection. The only drawback to these shoes is that when a stone sneaks in under your foot, you've gotta take the sandal almost all the way off to remove it.

Right In My Comfort Zone!

By: A Keener(3)
November 6, 2007

I wear both styles of Newport sandals (leather and H2) whenever and wherever I can. They are made for my feet! One caution, though. I discovered that I needed a half-size larger in the H2 model than in the leather Newport. Also, try the Growlers for winter weather; they are outstanding in every way!

Great Sandals

By: DamonKC(2)
September 26, 2007

Well this is my first pair of Keen sandals and I have to say they are fantastic. I have owned several pairs of Teva's and although those are good sandals, these Keen's outperform those in a variety of ways. These are tennis shoe comfortable, yet offer wet treking ability and best of all they keep your toes from getting stepped on or hurt by rocks. I highly recommend these to anyone wanting a sandal to do it all.

I knew I would like them so much that I tried them on in the mud. If you have a medium arch and an average width, they will fit well. As comparison they fit kinda like Asics running shoes. The perfect water shoe.

On time again

Newport H2's are a strong and comfortable sandal, they put up with all types of terrain that I hike in but in my opinion get a little warm in hot weather particularly the toe area. Shoes run small so much so that I had to get a one size bigger. Apart from the occasional hot feet they perform well and I have not broken them yet.

Oh so comfortable...

By: Tobers(17)
July 25, 2007

I bought these because I heard they were very comfortable. After lots of walking in my Tevas the balls of my feet hurt and I can feel the shock in my knees. After spending entire days in my Venice H2s my feet don't hurt a bit! My entire foot is cushioned and I love the wide toe box. Only drawback is the antimicrobial treatment didn't last long. They developed sandal funk pretty quickly, so they only get worn every other day and get the occasional scrub and soak.

Keens on and off trikes

By: Anson Fong (2)
July 21, 2007

Overall, I'm very happy with my Keen purchase. I've taken it to the beach, trail walks, walks in the city and it has performed really well. The overall comfortability is there, however perhaps due to my flat footedness, the rear strap is just a tab bit abrasive. Not too bad and it's a manageable feel. I would recommend this to others.

By: Ham Man(2)
June 28, 2007

I've wanted a pair of these for a while but I wear 2E width and my regular size didn't fit. I ordered one size up and they are GREAT! They are perfect for fishing and boating and are comfortable enough to wear when walking longer distances. Qucik drying. If you normally wouldn't spend this much on sandals (like me), they are worth every penny.

Rugged & Comfortable

By: MikeyC.(1)
June 21, 2007

I am getting a lot of use out of these shoes so far this summer. They are cool & comfortable, but rugged. Thanks to info in another review, I knew to order the shoes 1/2 size bigger than my normal size. They are a little hard to slip on, and I am concerned that the loop may not be strong enough for a good hard pull. That being said, I would advise anybody seeking a shoe that can easily go from the water to hiking and climbing to buy a pair immediately.

Newport H2 Sandal - Men's

By: bmbissell(3)
May 3, 2007

I recently purchased the Newport H2 Men’s Sandal, and I simply love them. They’re perfect for working in and out of a boat or near water. It’s great to have the support and comfort of a normal shoe, but the ability to transit between land and water easily. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Keen H2 Sandal

By: IGFA Observer(1)
April 15, 2007

My Keen sandals are truly keen. They are so comfortable I forget I have them on. Sport fishing action can be fast and furious. When your backing down on a fish, and taking water over the transom the last thing you want to worry about is staying in your shoes. My Keens stick really good; and dry quickly afterward.

Awesome

By: Cal and Hawaii(1)
April 14, 2007

Sandals are great! A little stiff on first wear, but broke in quickly and has not gotten soft. They have just the right flexibility and firmness. They also recover well after getting wet and the colors so far have not dulled. Easy to put on and off. I have even wore them without securing the back ankle strap and the sandals are fine for casual walking and stills maintains its form and function later. The sandals have not stretched out or shrank. Thus, get the perfect size. They do run about a half size bigger. So thanks to the prior reviewer who advised to get a half size smaller. Overall, a very versatile, comfortable, breathable, and toe protected footwear for all types of outdoor activities.

Great sandal but needs more arch support

By: Kalli(1)
March 26, 2007

I love my new sandals! I ordered men's sandals as I wear a size 11 womens and the mens Newports were wide enough for me. My only complain is that I have a really high arch and have found that on long hikes that I could use a little more arch support. I wear small arch supports on long hikes with them and so far all is perfect since. This site had the best price by far and I am looking forward to my upcoming raft trip to try my Newports out in the water.

Here's the Rub...

By: GMM(1)
March 19, 2007

Tried them first on a trip to the Keys last week, fishing the flats from both boat and overboard. They fit well, and I was especially thankful they had the tighten down bungee lacing to secure the sandal from pulling off. some of the flats on the bay side are bedded with fine silt that seems more like quick sand, and grabs everything stepping into it. on the neg side, the tops of my little toes were rubbed sore by the webbing on both pair, it may be just an anatomical issue with my feet, nonetheless, it made wearing them uncomfortable the first few days. hopefully it'll diminish the longer I wear them, if I can continue.

Keen Newport H2 vs Keen Newports

By: Keen in Alaska(2)
March 17, 2007

I have been wearing Keen Newports almost daily for about a year. They are one of the most comfortable examples of footwear I have ever owned. Also they seem to be well made, they still look like new after all this wear. No failures. I just ordered a pair of Newport H2, same size, but they are definitely smaller. I can not get them on my foot while the first pair of standard Newports slip on easily. So be warned, you might have to order a size larger in the H2's as compared to the standard Newports. I am going to order 3 more pair of Keen Newports immediately, just in case Keen does something insane, like discontinue this model of great sandals.

Great, fun, versatile shoe with really good support. I love the solid sole. I feel the arch is slightly forward (for my foot anyway). Mine are holding up fairly well, but I feel they have stretched out nearly a full size. Little rocks and sand are a pain...but then again if I didn’t want a sandal I would have gotten some Salomon Amphibs.
