Kelty Adventure Kid Carrier - 2007

Mommy and Daddy are hikers, therefore hiking must be in the blood. The Kelty Adventure Kid Carrier is the ultimate piece of gear for parents who feel faintly unsettled indoors and packless. Outfitted with every handy feature Kelty could come up with (and that's a lot) the Adventure has space for everything parent and child need for the day's excursion. Highlights include a sun/rain hood, cargo bag, removable kid pack backpack, an electronics pocket for cell phone or GPS, and the ever-popular "what're you kids doing back there?" mirror that's pretty effective for a game of over the shoulder peek-a-boo too. Expedition-quality suspension with molded padding all around keeps parents happy even when fully loaded down, while kids will be comfortable and secure in the padded cockpit. The hood and kid pack detach so you can bring as little or as much as necessary. Thoughtful extras like toy loops and enough adjustment that adults of all sizes can use the same carrier seal the deal, making the Adventure the last word in backpack Kid Carriers.

Bottom Line: Junior's first car will look lame next to this carrier.

Neck Cushion

The Adventure Kid Carrier was not helpful with my one year old. The cushion may be better suited to a child old enough to understand why it should be left in place. However, my son did enjoy chewing on it. A rolled up towel worked best to prop his head up as he slept leaning forward.

I cannot say enough good things about this carrier. My son weights 28lbs and I had about 10lbs of gear in the pack. I felt almost no weight on my shoulders. The carrier is very comfortable for both child and the person carrying everything. The sun shade was also very handy. We day hiked in the Smokies, about 30 miles in 4 days. No problems at all.

Adventure/Pinnacle

I picked up the Pinnacle, now renamed "Adventure", Carrier and can't say enough good about it. So far, I’ve hiked 8 miles of rough trail in the Smokey’s and 3 miles in Daniel Boone National Forest with my 6-month-old and loved every step. Very well constructed with many adjustments to grow with my boy and to allow the wife to carry. Plenty of packing space to cover a long hike or an overnighter. This one will last!!
