K2 Apache Outlaw Alpine Ski

From the trees to the corduroy, powder to crust, the redesigned K2 Apache Outlaw Alpine Ski owns the mountain. With a wide, versatile footprint, the Outlaw can rule any resort in the Wild West. The K2 Apache Outlaw's favorite conditions are tricky steeps and powder-filled bowls, but it'll also run with the best of them when low snowfall or fickle temperatures relegate you to the groomers, thanks to a vibration-dampening MOD Monic elastomeric core. A metal laminate above and below the durable fir and aspen core provides a stable, torsionally stiff platform for advanced, all-mountain skiers. If you ski areas like Vail, Mt. Baker, or Squaw, where the snow falls but conditions can vary greatly from day to day, the Outlaw Alpine Ski will set you free. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: The K2 Apache Outlaw Alpine Ski knows no bounds.

demo'd the apache outlaw this march at Taos Ski Valley and was really impressed by them. I'm an East Coaster, ex-racer, and usually go for slalom skis with race boots, but decided to go for more comfy boot and all-mountain ski for the Taos trip. The skis were rock solid on groomers and held up just fine in the very steep, very bumpy, and kinda fresh powder. really liked them a lot.

I spoke with a Rep in a ski shop and he recommended going short (170cm) for Japan (12m - 16m of dry pow). Any comments on that?

um...short for Japan? what does that really mean? I skied in Japan for 3 years, and picked up my 180 V-explosiv skiis (96mm waist) while I was there (I am 5'8", 170)...perfect ski for me

How tall are you? Are you an aggressive skier?

Personally, I am not a fan of skiis that are too short. I won't go shorter than 180 at this point...

OUTLAW RULES

I live in Aspen and this is my third year on the Outlaw. A few years back the buzz was the K2 Recon which everyone had or was demoing. After being blown away by the Recon when I went to buy it the guys at the shop said they all moved to the Outlaw. I said no way. They said way. I demoed I bought. Even on the groomed you can open em up like a 210s. 200lbs on a 174? Way. I try only to ski powder days. I don't have the pistons which just make the ski hard to carry in the tram line. Had them on a par of Vokels and couldn't tell a difference at high speed GS turns. May be they work better now.But still hard to grab with on hand. The ski is more big mountain then the Recon. You love either!

Powder hound ski

This is great for doing more powder then not. The best part is that it still does good on hardpack. I demoed the ski last year and loved it in all conditions mostly powder. The binding works well with control and power. I wouldn't go back east with this one, rockie are where it is at with this ski.
