Helly Hansen The Mars Jacket - Men's - 2006
At 2.3oz, the Helly Hansen Men's Mars Jacket is impossibly light—yet it exists AND protects you from wind and water. You'll feel light as a feather and oblivious to gusts or gales in this windproof wonder-jacket. A light rain won't faze you either. Pull the Mars Jacket out of your back pocket and you've got an instant defense against fickle weather. After all the time spent on lightweight versatility, Helly Hansen didn't forget about safety; they added reflective print to help drivers spot you in the dark.
Bottom Line: The Helly Hansen Mars is a water-resistant windproof jacket that's barely there.

Good Running Jacket

This is a very good minimalist running jacket. It has no pockets, no hood, and no ventilation zips (it does have ventilation holes under the arms). I use it for running in the cold, snow, and rain.
I only use this jacket for running. For backpacking trips I use different rain jack that is slightly heavier and has pockets and a hood.
Summary: If you want an ultra lightweight jacket for running, I would highly recommend this jacket.
Great except for annoying logo in back

This would have easily gotten a 5 star but the Helly Hansen written in bold in back is too much of a distraction to this otherwise clean package. No complaints about performance, fit and weight. I'm 5'11", 44R and actually returned the XL for a L -- the L seems to fit true to size where others in this space is too tight.
nice n light

i am very happy with the jacket. nice and light! one thing which bugs me is that it says 'helly hansen' in big letters across the back. if i am going to be advertising something, I should be the one getting paid. i'm trying to figure out how to remove the screenprinting without damaging the material...
AWESOME LIGHTWEIGHT JACKET

I am an avid outdoor runner regardless of weather. And this jacket is the lightest jacket that I have ever bought. It is light enough so it doesn't get too hot and it protects against rain and wind. Great jacket.
Great Wind shell! No hood.

When the Helly Hansen Mars was introduced it was the lightest jacket, and at 2.3 oz for a large, it's like it's not there. The full zip (!!!) and laser-cut pit holes afford good ventilation. Around the fire at night, you need to be careful of sparks. Also the jacket has no hood but that's in keeping with the minimalist functionality of the Mars.
